The latest horse racing betting tips for the live ITV action from Racing Post tipster Robbie Wilders.
14:25 Sandown - Ga Law @ 4/1
14:45 Haydock - Earls @ 3/1
15:35 Sandown - Le Milos @ 8/1
14:25 Sandown - Ga Law @ 4/1
The Grade 2 Oaksey Chase is wide open as the top four in the early betting have last time out figures of P8PP. Of that group, the one to side with could be Ga Law.
This still improving eight-year-old was pulled up in the Ryanair Chase on his latest outing, but the ground was too testing for him and conditions should be more in his favour at Sandown.
He didn’t appear to stay in the Coral Gold Cup earlier in the campaign and is better judged on his impressive handicap success off a big weight at Cheltenham two starts earlier when the ground was perfect for him.
The intermediate distance of the Oaksey looks made for Ga Law.
14:45 Haydock - Earls @ 3/1
Gavin Cromwell is a dab hand with his British raids in both codes, and Earls gets the vote in Haydock’s televised 7f handicap.
This horse has produced two fine efforts in defeat this term, being given too much to do from off the pace when fifth in the Irish Lincolnshire before returning an unlucky loser in a 16-runner race at Cork last Saturday. That contest was slowly run and Earls was again not seen to best effect, having to make up substantial late ground.
Up 2lb in the handicap, Earls is well enough treated to land what looks a weaker race and the drop back a furlong in trip should not inconvenience him.
He has a turn of foot that many horses lack when conditions are testing, and Franny Norton can steer him home in front for a deserved success.
15:35 Sandown - Le Milos @ 8/1
The bet365 Gold Cup is typically competitive, but there is a chance Le Milos might pick this apart for Dan Skelton, who seems almost certain to have aimed him at this race all season.
He was the yard’s only provisional entry at the start of the week and it looks significant that he has not run in a chase since the 2023 Grand National, a race in which he didn’t stay.
We shouldn’t hold that against Le Milos as plenty of horses get found out over that extreme test, and he showed stamina was his forte when he got up late to capture the Coral Gold Cup on similar conditions in November 2022.
Off just 3lb higher, Le Milos can add another major staying handicap chase to his CV.
