14:10 Punchestown - Springt De La Mare @ 10/3

A cracking 2m novice chase opens proceedings at Punchestown and a couple of these will no doubt be saved for a handicap at Cheltenham next month, but Springt De La Mare should take some stopping.

Gavin Cromwell's six-year-old son of No Risk At All won a point-to-point at Necarne in April 2023 before winning a Navan bumper on his rules debut when seeing off My Trump Card.

He ran only modest races in good maiden hurdles this season but looked a different proposition altogether when landing a 2m beginners' chase at Fairyhouse last month.

The fourth, Luminous Light, gave the form a welcome boost when winning a Clonmel handicap on Thursday and this boy was always going to make a fine chaser.

Springt De La Mare will have some stern opposition in the form of Release The Beast and Waterford Whispers, but the selection is expected to improve again in a first-time tongue-tie and he gets the nod.

15:10 Punchestown - Will Do @ 11/2

The 3m3f Grand National Trial promises to be a true test of stamina and courage and, if recent trends are anything to go by, it should pay to back a Gordon Elliott-trained runner as Cullentra House has won five of the last seven renewals of the contest.

Jockey bookings would suggest Will Do is the yard's strongest chance and Sam Ewing should be looking forward to his ride. The bumper and dual hurdles winner is yet to score over fences but that looks set to change.

Placed in his first three starts over fences this season over inadequate trips, Will Do was sent off favourite on his handicap chase debut for the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown's Christmas festival.

In first-time blinkers, he was given a patient ride and came to challenge approaching the last, but his run flattened out late on and he finished a respectable fifth of 27.

He got caught up in the melee at the start when slowly away in the Thyestes last time but still ran well to finish a remote sixth. If he can get away on terms here, he's a massive player.

16:10 Punchestown - Dr Eggman @ 8/11

Dr Eggman has been turned over at odds-on three times on the spin so comes with obvious risks attached, but he should have the class to land this 2m3f maiden hurdle.

Willie Mullins' seven-year-old can run with the choke out at times and can often jump clumsily but, if he runs anywhere close to his early-season hurdles form of last term, he should take all the beating on his return.
