It’s a Premier Raceday meeting at Newmarket on Sunday and a there are a host of decent handicaps to get stuck into.
Here are the latest horse racing betting tips for Sunday's Newmarket card from the Racing Post's Gary Savage:
16.15 - Too Friendly @ 9/2
17.15 - Feel The Need @ 14/1
18.45 - Victoria Falls @ 9/1
16.15 - Too Friendly @ 9/2
After a below-par run in the Chester Cup, this race looks an ideal opportunity for James Owen's six-year-old TOO FRIENDLY to continue his progression.
The stable continue in red-hot form, with three winners, three second places and two thirds from their last 10 runners.
Too Friendly often takes a keen hold, he did at Chester last time and also when winning at Kempton in March, so the addition of a hood makes obvious sense.
That Kempton win was his best flat performance according to RPRs, backing up the improvement he has made over hurdles since switching to the Owen yard in 2023.
I like the fact he is reunited with Callum Shepherd, who rode the gelding on his first six starts for George Scott, the pair winning a maiden at Doncaster.
With Berkshire Rocco and last year's winner Adjuvant both underperforming in a course-and-distance handicap here two weeks ago, this race looks very winnable.
17.15 - Feel The Need @ 14/1
Michael Herrington has only ever had three runners on the Rowley Mile, one won, one was second and one third. The winner was on Friday and he can make it a quick double with in-form four-year-old FEEL THE NEED.
In three efforts since switching from David O'Meara, have seen him produce eye-catching runs over this trip at Newcastle, with bad luck in running meaning he hasn't yet got off the mark for the stable.
It does also mean that his mark, on turf and All-Weather, remains on 74, which looks generous on various runs from last year, including lots of turf form on varying ground.
He was tried over as far as 1m4f for O'Meara, and, although not winning in 2023, he produced a host of good runs from marks in the mid 80s.
The way he has travelled in his races this year suggests that thiss seven furlong trip looks fine for him and Tom Eaves should be able to navigate a passage on the more spacious Newmarket course.
18.45 - Victoria Falls @ 9/1
A class 5 fillies' handicap closes proceedings, but it's a warm race, with five of them making their handicap debuts and some powerful stables represented.
The potential can help to create value among the more exposed contenders and Hugo Palmer's mare VICTORIA FALLS looks ready to run a big race after an eye-catching seasonal debut.
That was in Class 2 at Chester where, after not being sharp enough to take advantage of stall 1, she was always playing catch=up behind the trailblazing winner Percy's Lad.
She stuck to her task well, not getting the clearest of runs in the straight, to come home a never dangerous seventh.
She was progressive last year, with two wins and a second in August and September and her narrow defeat over this course and distance on good to firm ground rates as her best performance yet.
With that Chester outing under her belt, Oisin Murphy - 8-18 for Hugo Palmer this season - in the saddle and the drop in grade, she looks sure to run well.
