There is quality racing taking place at Naas on Sunday, with a mixture of Graded races and some competitive handicaps.
Racing Post tipster Gary Savage is on hand to run you through his best bets ahead of all the action at the County Kildare track.
12:25 Naas - Lantry Lady @ 11/4
12:55 Naas - Embittered @ 14/1
13:55 Naas - Butch Cassidy @ 9/2
12:25 Naas - Lantry Lady @ 11/4
Henry De Bromhead had the winner of this beginners' chase race two years ago and has two strong representatives this year in Lantry Lady and Majestic Force, but the former is fancied to come out on top.
This looks a warm contest with three quality Willie Mullins contenders also lining up, but the selection was the best of these over hurdles and can prove the standout over fences as well.
With possible snow and definite rain forecast, the ground will be attritional if the meeting beats the weather, and this will suit Lantry Lady perfectly, with her best runs, including fourth in the Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham, coming in the mud.
Having only had four starts there is still room for improvement, and with De Bromhead always expressing the view that she will make a better chaser, expect her to prove too good for her rivals.
12:55 Naas - Embittered @ 14/1
Trainer Eric McNamara likes to target Limerick's Christmas Festival and this ex-Gordon Elliott-trained 11-year-old ran in the Listed Tim Duggan Handicap eight days ago, where he was unable to get competitive.
However, he now has his sights lowered at Naas, has cheekpieces enlisted, and another 2lb off his back, so there are reasons for giving him a chance to atone for that no-show.
The Limerick race was over 2m 3 1/2f, whereas his very best form has come over no further than around two miles, the trip he returns to at Naas.
Hopefully the cheekpieces will help him travel a bit easier and, if so, he will be looking very well handicapped from a mark 5lb lower than for his latest win just over a year ago.
McNamara is 2-11 at Naas in the last five years so knows what sort of horse it takes to win at the course.
13:55 Naas - Butch Cassidy @ 9/2
A tremendous renewal of the Grade One Lawlor's Of Naas novice hurdle can go the way of Henry De Bromhead's five-year-old Butch Cassidy, who showed great tenacity and plenty of class on his hurdle debut, and only second start, at Punchestown in November.
Transferred from Philip Fenton after a bumper win last April, this half-brother to ill-fated Champion Bumper winner Fayonagh can be expected to improve on that effort, not least in the jumping department.
He seemed to have got the hang of things late in the race and was always holding a useful sort in Sermandzarak on the run to the line.
Third that day was the reopposing Shuffle The Deck, who boosted the form plenty when running away with a maiden hurdle here on his next start.
There seems no reason why Shuffle The Deck will turn the tables on the selection given that one's potential, and the fact they are the same price for this contest should be taken advantage of by punters.
