14:40 Naas - Pleasington @ 5/1

Olly Murphy’s previous Irish runner won at odds of 5/1 at Fairyhouse last April and Pleasington makes the journey over for the trainer for Naas’s Grade 3 novice hurdle. He should go well under Keith Donoghue and this looks a smart piece of placing, with the core Irish challenge looking relatively weak.

Pleasington has turned a corner this season. He has produced two wide-margin victories on heavy ground at Leicester and Lingfield and should get the ease underfoot he requires at Naas.

His latter victory over a good horse in Peacenik, who made the frame in a Grade 2 on his previous outing, reads well. The yard’s horses are in excellent nick and he should relish the stiff uphill finish here.

15:40 Naas - Don’t Tell Jack @ 5/1

The 2m3½f handicap hurdle looks a competitive affair but Don’t Tell Jack stands out on his handicap debut for Joseph O’Brien.

Mark Walsh has chosen to ride Don’t Tell Jack among four JP McManus-owned runners and his opening mark is enticing.

Don’t Tell Jack is a three-mile point-to-point runner-up and half-brother to Hillcrest, so he was never going to be suited by slowly run two-mile maiden hurdles.

He has shaped as if requiring a greater test of stamina in all of those and has been steadily progressive on his three starts to qualify for a mark.

The unexposed five-year-old will find this extra three and a half furlongs to his liking and appears to have a future.

16:45 Naas - Panda Boy @ 13/2

Panda Boy hasn’t exactly achieved what was expected of him yet, but the Leinster National is his easiest assignment for some time and he’ll be a huge player if running to form.

The nine-year-old ran two crackers at Leopardstown last season, being unfortunate to bump into the well-treated Meetingoftewaters in the Paddy Power before preserving his chase mark for the Grand National with a solid prep run over hurdles at the Dublin Racing Festival.

He was never travelling when underperforming at Aintree and hasn’t been seen to best effect in both starts this campaign, including most recently when bidding to go a place better in the Paddy Power.

Perhaps he was still feeling the effects of Aintree and, after a 72-day break to freshen him up, can get his career back on track for Martin Brassil.
