Lingfield's Polytrack surface is officially described as standard to slow ahead of their eight-race card on Thursday, featuring two £9,500 Class 4 handicaps over 6f and 1m.
Racing Post tipster Dave Randall is on hand to provide his best tips from across the action at the Surrey track.
13:58 – Camera Shy @ 8/1
14:32 – Starshiba @ 10/3
15:39 – Forever Proud @ SP
13:58 – Camera Shy @ 8/1
Camera Shy is considered to have decent each-way claims in the nine-runner, Class 4 three-year-old handicap over 6fs (13:58) where he will be representing Michael Bell with Callum Shepherd in the saddle.
Bell is 81-559 (14%) with his runners on this course, and Shepherd is 12-92 (13% +£12.73) when riding for Bell on the AW.
The son of Kodiac made a promising winning debut over this 6f trip at Newmarket in May 2024, and was clearly rated highly enough to contest a 6f Group 3 juvenile contest at the San Siro on his next start that June.
The gelding clearly wasn't at his best in Italy, missing the break and racing too keenly on the soft ground, but he made a pleasing return to action on his AW debut after a 139-day break at Chelmsford in November.
The selection did well in the circumstances to finish a half-length third of 10 after what was a wide and prominent journey from the worst available stall.
He is entitled to benefit from that run, this course is likely to suit from a more favourable draw and an opening mark of 79 is exploitable on his handicap debut.
14:32 – Starshiba @ 10/3
Starshiba has strong follow-up claims in the six-runner Class 4 1m handicap (14:32) representing Jack Morland with Callum Shepherd again in the saddle.
Morland has gone 5-6 (83%) with his runners in the past fortnight and is 2-6 (33%) with his runners on this course. Shepherd is 1-1 when riding for Morland on the AW.
The son of Acclamation ran out a comfortable winner of an admittedly weaker C&D handicap on New Year's Eve, but he has won in this grade from a 6lb higher mark in the past, so he is well placed to register a fifth course success.
He has had a helpful nine-day break, so should be ready enough to shrug off a 4lb penalty for that latest victory.
15:39 – Forever Proud @ 5/2
Finally, Forever Proud is another horse considered capable of following up a recent victory when contesting the eight-runner Class 6 1m2f handicap (15:39) where she will be representing James Owen with Jordan Williams claiming 5lb in the saddle.
Owen has gone 5-31 (16%) in the previous 14 days and is 4-28 (14%) with his runners on this course.
Williams is a perfectly respectable 4-37 (11%) when riding at Lingfield on the Polytrack, and his allowance negates Forever Proud's 4lb rise for winning over a slightly shorter trip at Wolverhampton 13 days ago.
The five-year-old mare has already won twice over this course and distance, and this race represents an excellent opportunity to enhance her favourable course statistics.
