There are five meetings in Britain and Ireland on Tuesday, with three scheduled to take place over jumps and two Flat fixtures on the all-weather.
Racing Post tipster Graeme Rodway is on hand to talk us through his latest betting tips from across the day’s action, two of which come from Lingfield with one from Carlisle.
11:10 Lingfield – Gold Aura @ 9/2
12:10 Lingfield – Dillydingdillydong @ 9/1
14:05 Carlisle – Marown @ 2/1
11:10 Lingfield – Gold Aura @ 9/2
The 2m handicap (11:10) kicks off an early morning start at Lingfield and Gold Aura looks capable of defying top weight for up-and-coming trainer Jack Jones, who has a good record at the course.
Jones has saddled 11 winners from 49 runners at the track, for a 22 percent strike-rate, and appears to have found a good opportunity for Gold Aura to break a run of consistently good efforts in defeat.
Gold Aura is still a maiden after 21 starts, but definitely has the ability to win a race like this and showed that when second at Wolverhampton in September. She put in another solid run when second at Southwell last month and wasn’t beaten far when fourth on turf at Nottingham last time.
The return to the all-weather is definitely in Gold Aura’s favour and stepping up two furlongs in distance might also bring out some improvement. She won’t need to find much to outclass this field.
12:10 Lingfield – Dillydingdillydong @ 9/1
James Owen can do little wrong at the moment and continued his fine recent run of form when landing the Greatwood at Cheltenham on Sunday with Burdett Road. Owen might hold the key to the 1m5f handicap (12:10) at Lingfield as he saddles two runners and the pick is Dillydingdillydong.
Sean Dylan Bowen rode Owen’s other runner here, Destinado, to victory last Wednesday at Southwell and must have had the choice to ride him again. It therefore looks significant that he is on Dillydingdillydong instead, especially as the rider has a 26 percent strike-rate for the Owen stable.
Dillydingdillydong has won twice at Wolverhampton since joining this yard and, although he disappointed at that track two weeks ago, that was on his first outing since August. There is a good chance the selection will improve for that return from 80 days off and he is down 1lb in the weights.
He is only 1lb higher than when a good second at Wolverhampton two runs ago and remains unexposed over staying trips. This will be only his second start beyond a mile and a half.
14:05 Carlisle – Marown @ 2/1
There is an 8am inspection for the jumps fixture at Carlisle, but let’s hope the meeting goes ahead because Marown looks to have an outstanding chance in the 2m4f veterans’ handicap chase (14:05).
Form figures reading 23223323 underline the consistency shown by Marown and the Nicky Richards-trained 10-year-old should find this task a lot easier than many that he has faced.
He is rated upwards of 6lb higher than anything else in the race, so has a huge class edge and, while he also has plenty of weight to show for that, he is a big horse well capable of carrying 12 stone.
Marown has won twice over fences, so has shown he is capable of getting his head in front, and his last victory was achieved off a mark 12lb higher than this. He is clearly handicapped to win again.
He goes well fresh and returns from a 207-day break off a career-low mark, so won’t be found a better opportunity to get his head back in front, especially as dropping to 2m4f shouldn’t be a problem at a stiff course like Carlisle.
