It's the final day of Leopardstown's Christmas meeting on Sunday and it's another great day of Graded races and competitive handicaps.
Here are the latest horse racing betting tips for Sunday's card from the Racing Post's Gary Savage.
12:45 Leopardstown - Churchroad Prince @ 16/1
13:55 Leopardstown- Midnight Our Fred @ 9/2
15:05 Leopardstown - Sa Fureur @ 11/2
12:45 Leopardstown - Churchroad Prince @ 16/1
With race times backing up the visual impression that the going is pretty fast at Leopardstown, it can pay to take a chance on this five-year-old bouncing back from a poor run on soft last time.
That run also came over three miles and in a grade three race, so there's plenty of reason to expect a bigger run back on a decent surface at two and a half miles.
The best run of Churchroad Prince's career so far came when he travelled all over the field in a maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe in May, the form of which worked out extremely well.
The runner-up that day, Talk In The Park, won his next two starts and is currently rated 126, while fourth home Marv Michael won a maiden hurdle and a beginners chase this summer and is currently rated 128 over fences.
Having beaten them both easily off-level weights, and with this return to virtually good ground in his favour, it's not hard to envision the selection running very well here off a rating of only 123.
13:55 Leopardstown- Midnight Our Fred @ 9/2
A race that is big on numbers but short on in-form candidates who are suited by conditions, it's worth taking a chance that John Flavin's gelding, Midnight Our Fred, has recovered from his second place in the Paddy Power Chase on Friday.
This much-less-exalted company provides him with an ideal opportunity, with his usual front-running style and assured jumping likely to get a lot of his soft-ground-loving rivals in trouble some way out.
Although only the winner of one of his eight chases to date, he has been runner-up four times and will find this company much less demanding than the Paddy Power last time or any of the three Cheltenham handicaps he was second in last season.
15:05 Leopardstown - Sa Fureur @ 11/2
The last big handicap of the three-day meeting looks an absolute cracker with loads of in-form contenders and all the top stables represented.
Take the hint from Gordon Elliott's jockey bookings on his five representatives, and row in with likely favourite Sa Fureur under Sam Ewing.
Ewing has ridden forty winners for Elliott this season, whereas the other jockeys riding for him have ridden 10 between them.
The seven-year-old is three from six over hurdles, so the switch back again to this discipline looks set to pay dividends.
He almost took advantage of his lower hurdle rating two outings ago when getting run down over two and a half furlongs further at Navan.
A 3lb ride for that sees him still 10lbs lower than for his last-time handicap chase win and with good ground no bar he can take this contest.
