The busy racing period continues with another six meetings on Friday including Grade 1 action from
Racing Post tipster Phill Anderson is on hand to run us through his best bets ahead of the action.
12:35 Leopardstown - Nurburgring @ 5/1
13:10 Leopardstown - Gentleman De Mee @ 33/1
15:00 Leopardstown - Will Do @ 8/1
12:35 Leopardstown - Nurburgring @ 5/1
There are a few nice prospects in the beginners’ chase (12:35) on the card, in particular Nurburgring who has made a bright start to life over fences.
This dual purpose performer was a high quality juvenile hurdler last season, winning at Grade 3 level and placing at Grade 1 level.
That form was built on when landing the Galway Hurdle on this season’s return to action before a fourth in the Irish Cesarewitch back on the Flat.
More recently, he ran a cracker in a beginners’ on his chase debut at Navan before hitting the frame in a Grade 2 novice last time out and he should probably be vying for favouritism back down in class in this contest.
13:10 Leopardstown - Gentleman De Mee @ 33/1
Gentleman De Mee sometimes gets a little forgotten about in the market given his patchy profile but he may be worth chancing in the feature on the card.
He hasn’t won since a course and distance success at the 2023 Dublin Racing Festival but he ran some crackers in defeat last year and several of his better performances have come at this sort of level.
Expect him to come on for his low-key return and with the ground in his favour, he may be capable of outrunning his odds.
15:00 Leopardstown - Will Do @ 8/1
Gordon Elliott hasn’t won the three mile handicap chase on Friday’s Leopardstown’s card since his famous success with Roaring Bull back in 2019, but he has outstanding claims in this year’s renewal with Three Card Brag and Will Do featuring amongst five declarations for the County Meath trainer.
Preference is for the entirely unexposed Will Do, who has come in for some market support since declarations were made but still looks interesting in the market.
This son of Walk In The Park signed off last season’s hurdle campaign with a handicap hurdle Listed fourth at the Punchestown Festival, but he’s always given the impression that he may end up being more of a chaser and his pedigree suggests as much.
The seven-year-old has run some cracking races in defeat this season over what have surely been insufficient trips and there must be a chance that the handicapper has let him off lightly with a mark of 126 to work with on handicap debut here.
With the step up in trip sure to suit and the addition of first-time blinkers another potential source of improvement, he could take some stopping with Sam Ewing seemingly preferring him to Three Card Brag.
