Neil King's eight-year-old mare races against males today but can follow up her cosy course and distance success in a mares hurdle last month in what actually looks a lesser race.

She appreciated the return to hurdles last time, after some indifferent runs over fences on her previous four starts had seen her mark drop to well below her winning mark from March 2023.

She made all for her win, but didn't have things all her own way as she faced a persistent challenge from the eventual third, who won next time out.

She had an upwardly mobile Harry Fry mare back in second and, able to run in the same grade today, there doesn't look to be anything better in this field so she can win again.

15:52 Huntingdon - Dibble Decker @ 4/1

El Rio is likely to be a warm order for this after three wins from four starts this season, and there's no doubt he's in cracking form, but at the likely prices last year's runner-up Dibble Decker is preferred.

The selection was just touched off by the reopposing Lounge Lizard in 2024, where a bob of the heads was all that separated them, and they run off the same terms today after both have failed to match that form since.

But, while Henry Daly's Lounge Lizard returns on the back of a very poor run when pulled up behind El Rio at Kempton, Tom Lacey's charge has run okay in his two starts this season.

As well as last year's near miss the nine-year-old won this valuable contest on good ground in 2023, so it is very likely to have been a target, and with his stable in cracking form recently, with six winners in the last fortnight, he can regain the prize.

16:15 Doncaster - Jac Jumper @ 9/4

Deborah Cole's consistent six-year-old has somehow not yet won over fences from seven starts, but there's nothing wrong with his attitude and he won't get many better chances than this to break his duck.

He has won over hurdles in France, but it's been over the larger obstacles that he has run his best races in Britain, and with the drying ground in his favour he is fancied to break his duck for Cole today.

He has been second three times since making his British chase debut last June, beaten very narrowly in the first of them, and not very far on unsuitably soft ground on his most recent start in a competitive contest at Hereford.

That run came in a conditionals race under usual pilot Chris Ward, whereas today he will have the strong handling of Adam Wedge which will certainly be no disadvantage, and he can finally record that maiden chasing win.
