Glorious Goodwood Horse Racing Tips for Tuesday

The Goodwood Festival gets underway on Tuesday, the first of five days of top-quality racing from the West Sussex track, with the Goodwood Cup Stakes the feature race of the opening day of action.

Here are the latest horse racing betting tips for Tuesday's card at Goodwood Racecourse from Racing Post tipster Keith Melrose.

Tuesday's Goodwood Horse Racing Betting Tips and Odds

13:50 – Bystander @ 10/1
16:10 – JM Jungle @
10/1
17:55 – Executive Decision @
7/1

13:50 – Bystander @ 10/1

John Smith's Cup winner Enfjaar leads the betting for the opening race of at Glorious Goodwood. He is clearly a progressive and interesting sort, but the draw at York was very kind to him- low draws are favoured and he came from stall one.

On Tuesday, he can be taken on with Bystander. This horse remains unexposed and comes here off a win at Newcastle on Northumberland Plate day.

That took Bystander's record to three wins from five runs on the all-weather. He is nought from three on turf, but according to Racing Post Ratings he has posted comparable figures on the grass so I am not yet putting him down as an all-weather horse.

In fact, his form at Lingfield in particular might be a positive here. Form at Lingfield and Goodwood has a tendency to translate pretty well and Bystander's win there in March suggests he will be able to handle the undulations here.

He has been drawn in stall one, which is not an advantage given the crowding that tends to take place up the inside. Clifford Lee will need to be on his guard, but that aside Bystander looks to have strong claims.

16:10 – JM Jungle @ 10/1

Epsom is another one of those tracks that tends to map nicely to Goodwood. JM Jungle has form there but, even better, he won at this meeting last year and is bubbling up nicely to land another win at the Goodwood Festival.

JM Jungle won at this meeting later season before going on to run a big race at the Ebor meeting and hold his form into the autumn. You sense that his connections have plotted a similar route through this season.

JM Jungle took a step forward when fourth at the Curragh last time and this track will suit him better.

It is also notable that Jason Hart rides. The John and Sean Quinn stable also have Lord Riddiford in this race, which he has won for the last three years. Yet Hart, the stable's main jockey, has chosen the younger JM Jungle. This race could represent a passing of the baton.

17:55 – Executive Decision @ 7/1

This is also Executive Decision's time of year. She won this very race 12 months ago and used it as a platform to follow up in the Racing League. Her trainer Jamie Osborne is a team captain in that competition.

Executive Decision has been knocking on the door of late. You could argue that the race she ran in at Ascot last time was even stronger than this one. She was fourth that day, but she ran round the field and paid for it late in the piece.

A sharper test at the trip will suit her and she is only 3lb higher than when winning this race last year.
