The going is likely to be soft ahead of Fontwell's six-race card on Sunday afternoon and there is the potential for conditions to worsen during racing.
The latest horse racing betting tips for Sunday's meeting at Fontwell from Racing Post tipster Dave Randall.
14:50 - Sir Rock @ 9/1
15:50 - Gold Clermont @ 8/1
16:22 - Edward Sexton @ 15/8
14:50 - Sir Rock @ 9/1
Nine runners are set to face the starter ahead of the Class 5 extended 2m5f Handicap Chase at Fontwell on Sunday afternoon (2.50), and Surrey handler Toby Lawes is taken to go back-to-back through his representative Sir Rock.
Lawes sent out a couple of horses who performed encouragingly well in the past 14 days and he is 4-11 (36% +£12) with his runners over fences at Fontwell, including through Sir Rock in this race on soft ground last year under Sunday's jockey Kevin Brogan.
Shortly after that victory, Sir Rock went close to following up from a 4lb higher mark of 100 at Plumpton.
The selection's form figures this season are a less-than-encouraging 7PP, but as a result he is returning to this contest back on the same mark of 96, following a 60-day break and a breathing operation, and wearing a first-time visor.
He is 3-10 in Class 5 company, 2-6 on this course and 2-7 over this distance, so the chance is worth taking that he can return to form on this occasion.
15:50 - Gold Clermont @ 8/1
Eight horses are scheduled to go to post for the Class 4 extended 3m3f Handicap Chase (3.50), and once again last year's winner Gold Clermont makes the most appeal.
A repeat victory in this race is likely to have been on her agenda ever since finishing fourth and sixth in the Eider Handicap Chase and Midlands Grand National at Newcastle and Uttoxeter on heavy ground in February and March.
The selection has had a small break since finishing 64P in her three races this season before the turn of the year.
Her mark has dropped to 108, 2lb lower than when successful under Sunday's 3lb-claiming jockey Philip Armson here in January 2024.
She is 4-13 on soft ground and a reproduction of last year's performance would be extremely likely to suffice.
16:22 - Edward Sexton @ 15/8
Finally, 12 runners are due to contest the concluding Class 5 extended 2m1f National Hunt Flat Race (4.22), and Gary and Josh Moore's representative Edward Sexton sets a clear form standard.
The Moores had a welcome winner through Casa Loupi at Sandown on Friday and they are 6-39 (15%) with their runners on this course.
Edward Sexton achieved a really encouraging Racing Post Rating (RPR) of 112 and Topspeed (TS) figure of 103 when only beaten a neck on his debut in a better-class 10-runner bumper at Sandown in November on good to soft ground.
His appealing pedigree suggests this slightly longer trip, on a more testing surface is going to suit as he attempts to go one place better.
