Ffos Las is Britain's only surviving turf card on Saturday. It has inherited the Grade 2 Towton Novices' Chase from Wetherby, and is laying on plenty of other strong races to prop up the all-weather cards in keeping the show on the road.
Here are the best bets from the Racing Post's Keith Melrose.
13:15 Ffos Las - Cherie D'am @ 5/2
14:58 Ffos Las - Rosscahill @ 9/4
15:31 Ffos Las - Sir Psycho @ 7/1
13:15 Ffos Las - Cherie D'am @ 5/2
Ffos Las has a downhill straight and lots of fences in a short distance. That sounds a lot like Chepstow and, while neither the drop nor the number of fences is the same here as it is much closer to the English border, the effect is in the same direction. Front runners do well at Ffos Las over fences.
That is a boost for Cherie D'am, who got the benefit from an attacking ride at Warwick on her most recent run. She jumped well that day and quickly recovered from losing her back legs on landing two out to assert in a Listed mares' novice chase.
The bare form is not as good as what Handstands achieved in winning an open-sex Grade 2 at Sandown last time. However, that race was over 3m, at a much stiffer track. Handstands also has to give Cherie D'am 7lb weight for sex, which on adjusted Racing Post Ratings puts her right on his heels.
Ffos Las sets up pretty well for big finishes and it is expected that Handstands and Cherie D'am will fight it out. The former will have to be every bit as good as he looked at Sandown to nab his closest rival.
14:58 Ffos Las - Rosscahill @ 9/4
Sometimes a race just looks like it was created for a certain horse. That is the case with this event and Rosscahill, who has won both starts under rules at this track and now gets to tackle a handicap with a decent prize pot while being as unexposed as it is possible to be.
This horse has a stout pedigree. He is by Malinas, who has sired plenty of staying chasers, and his dam's best half-brothers were staying chasers themselves.
Rosscahill won a point to point on his only run in that sphere, and since then has gone two from two in maiden and novice hurdles at Ffos Las. The first was a 2m6f race in October, in which his reputation preceded him (4/11 SP) and he won well. He then dropped in trip to 2m4f in December and was not quite so emphatic, but was drawing away at the finish.
A mark of 120 demands more improvement, but that is sure to come. Rosscahill will be a three-miler in time and could still be said to be learning his trade. He could just have too much off a mark that undersells his potential.
15:31 Ffos Las - Sir Psycho @ 7/1
A few of the runners in this 2m handicap chase were supposed to run over 2m4f at Kempton instead. With that race gone, the dynamic completely flips between Triple Trade and Sir Psycho. While the former had been hinting at a need to go back up in distance from 2m, Sir Psycho has been angling for a return to this trip for a while.
On his penultimate run last season, Sir Psycho served it up to Heltenham in a Premier Handicap at Newbury in March. Not for the first time, his jumping might have been the difference and he was also outstayed.
After a run back at Newbury, which looked like it will bring him on, Sir Psycho is now set to return to his best. Being in a slightly lesser race, over a shorter trip, gives him a real chance of extending Harry Derham's excellent run of recent form.
