Epsom Derby winner City Of Troy is the clear favourite for the Group 1 Eclipse Stakes at Sandown on Saturday.

City Of Troy

Last year's champion two-year-old was a bitter disappointment in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket but rebounded in emphatic style to win the Derby at Epsom last month. He comes into this with his reputation restored and very much as the leading candidate for Aidan O'Brien.

Dancing Gemini

Roger Teal's charge was a Listed winner at two and went close in the French Guineas at Longchamp on soft ground on his comeback. The Camelot colt was also a well-held sixth in the Derby at Epsom and may possibly be better suited to dropping in trip again now.

Ghostwriter

Clive Cox's colt was 3-3 last season, culminating in the Group 2 Royal Lodge at Newmarket over a mile on quick ground. He has run fair races in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and the French Derby this term but a career best is demanded now.

Al Riffa

Winner of the Group 1 National Stakes last season for Joseph O'Brien, Al Riffa also showed promising form when a close fourth in the Prix Ganay at Longchamp during his comeback in April, although he has since been well beaten in America.

Jayarebe

Jayarebe stepped up on his previous form to win the Group 3 Hampton Court at Royal Ascot last time out for Brian Meehan. He should be suited by this trip and there could be more to come, although this is going to demand plenty of him.

See The Fire

A filly by Sea The Stars, See The Fire only has a Newmarket maiden over 7f to show from five starts, albeit she has run with credit in Group 1s both as a two-year-old and this season. Her run in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot was a hint that a step up in trip is the way to go, albeit this will still be a tough ask in elite company now.

Stay Alert

A mare by Fastnet Rock, Stay Alert won a Newmarket Group 2 on her comeback in May over 1m1f on good ground, but she was well beaten in last weekend's Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh and that suggests she will struggle in this company against the boys.

Hans Andersen

Frankel colt Hans Andersen is a Group 3 winner in his own right but has also been deployed as a pacemaker in elite company by Aidan O'Brien and faded under such tactics in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh and the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot.
