After another cracking week at Royal Ascot for Aidan O’Brien last week, he has a host of chances back on home soil at the Curragh on Saturday.
Here are the latest horse racing betting tips for Saturday at the Curragh from Racing Post tipster Phill Anderson.
13:45 Curragh - Beautify @ 3/1
14:55 Curragh - Trustyourinstinct @ 10/11
15:30 Curragh - Kalpana @ 11/10
13:45 Curragh - Beautify @ 3/1
Lady Iman is sure to be popular in the first Group race on Saturday’s card with an unbeaten record of three from three. Ger Lyons’ filly still looked green when asked for her effort here last time and she warrants respect again but the two horses she beat last time could only finish in mid-division in the Albany, and therefore, Beautify may be worth chancing.
Beautify ran a cracker over this course and distance on her debut when only beaten two lengths. That’s an effort worth upgrading given that the two that finished in front of her had the benefit of the stands’ side rail.
She dug deep that day, getting the hang of things in the closing stages and gave the impression that there would be plenty more to come next time she ran.
Even more significantly, the winner from that maiden ran a huge race in the Albany at Royal Ascot last week, finishing in front of the two that are closely matched on form with Lady Iman.
The yard’s juveniles often come on markedly for their debut effort and with Ryan Moore back in the saddle, there’s a decent chance she will be hard to beat.
14:55 Curragh - Trustyourinstinct @ 10/11
The International Stakes looks like a great chance for Trustyourinstinct to get another Group win on the board.
He arguably put up a career best when bolting up by four lengths in a Listed race at this venue recently, form that has worked out since with the third gaining a Group 3 win in the interim and his penultimate run over this trip was another cracker in behind the likes of Group 1 winners White Birch and Los Angeles.
Not many of his rivals arrive in form with Layfayette seemingly not the force of old and questions about what ability remains of Deepone. Elizabeth Jane would be a threat on her best form but 1m2f on quick ground is probably sharp enough on her seasonal reappearance.
The two three-year-olds in the line-up would need sizeable improvement and therefore, Trustyourinstinct looks capable of gaining another Group 3 win, despite having to concede weight to his rivals.
15:30 Curragh - Kalpana @ 11/10
Kalpana took a major step forward when winning last season’s Fillies’ and Mares’ Group 1 on Champions’ Day at Ascot and had excuses when third to Los Angeles in the Tattersalls Gold Cup on her return to action.
That’s an effort worth marking up given the trouble she met in running at a crucial stage of the race and the suspicion is that that effort against the colts is a stronger piece of form than Whirl’s Oaks form.
There’s an argument to say Kalpana should be the outright favourite for this back against her own sex and she’s entitled to come on from that first run of the campaign.
