16:05 – Bialystok @
2/1

13:45 – Red Letter Bray @ 6/1

Things didn’t really work out for Red Letter Bray after winning back-to-back at Naas for Michael O'Callaghan early on last season but there was plenty to like about his debut run for Liam Cusack last time out and he may be able to resume progress now.

Last season, heavy was in the going description for both of his wins but he showed that he handled a quicker surface when scoring over this course and distance on his return outing and he’s unexposed and open to improvement on this sort of ground.

Connections also had him earmarked for a tilt at the Guineas at one stage last season, so there’s a reasonable chance that he’s better than a handicapper rated just 94.

There are decent prospects of coming on for his reappearance win here when 100/1, a starting price that suggests he wasn’t fully wound up for his return, and Chris Hayes, who rides this track (and most tracks) very well is certainly an eye-catching jockey booking.

Stall two is the big question mark given that they sometimes come to the stands’ rail in the sprints at this track but last year’s winner had a low draw, so it’s certainly not insurmountable.

He could represent a bit of value with just a 6lb rise in the weights to cope with here.

15:30 – Bluestocking @ 7/4

This doesn’t look like the strongest renewal of the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes that has been won by the likes of Taghrooda and Ouija Board down the years and one that may be able to take advantage is the impressive Middleton Stakes winner, Bluestocking.

Bluestocking got the better of Free Wind when bolting up by six lengths at York that day and that rival had won the race on her reappearance the previous year.

The filly seemed to really appreciate the ground which was pretty quick at York and she ought to be able to obtain a prominent position again with a handy draw and not much pace on.

Having just her ninth start, she’s open to more improvement than most and there’s every chance she can come on for that run for a yard in-form.

16:05 – Bialystok @ 2/1

Bialystock isn’t the most natural jumps horse and there’s a chance he could appreciate a return to the level in the Ladies’ Derby, a handicap over 1m2f.

He had some pretty solid form in France before joining Willie Mullins and this will be his first run on the Flat for his new yard but he was in solid form over hurdles when last seen at the end of the jumps season and Mullins has probably managed to improve him since he was last seen in this sphere.

On that basis, a mark of 92 looks workable for this son of Zoffany and most of his French form came on a decent surface so he ought to handle conditions.
