18:30 Wolverhampton – Invincible Aura @

14:45 Chepstow – Cabhfuilfungi @ 11/4

The 2m novice limited handicap chase (14:45) is the feature at Chepstow and Cabhfuilfungi looks like a good bet to follow up his maiden victory over fences, which came at Southwell on New Year's Day.

Cabhfuilfungi had been unlucky when unseating rider at Ludlow on his previous start, after going off favourite, and made amends in impressive fashion to score by 33 lengths in a good time for the grade.

The selection has been raised 6lb in the weights and needs to prove that he can reproduce his Southwell form (where his form figures read 3211) at this different course. He also beat only two rivals last time and this will be tougher, but he was so dominant and there should be a lot more in the locker.

Booster Bob and Royal Jewel will provide stiff opposition, but the latter is still a maiden over fences after four starts and Booster Bob has been a beaten favourite on his last two outings. That is enough to convince me that Cabhfuilfungi is the one to be on in a race that should throw up winners.

15:30 Newcastle – Choosethenews @ 4/1

Over at Newcastle it’s the 2m71/2f handicap chase (15:30) which takes centre stage and Choosethenews appears to have an outstanding chance to score from top weight of 12st 1lb.

He wasn’t suited by an extreme test of stamina on soft ground up Carlisle’s stiff hill last time and finished pulled up, but is better judged on his previous efforts and they include a victory at this course.

Choosethenews was successful on heavy ground over 2m4f here in April and returned from a summer break to finish a clear-cut second behind the classy Tedley at Wetherby in November.

That was over 2m31/2f and he needs to prove he stays this extra four furlongs, but he won a 3m point-to-point and connections must think he will get the distance to give him another go at this far.

18:30 Wolverhampton – Invincible Aura @ 7/2

The 1m1/2f handicap (18:30) at Wolverhampton is a cracker and the consistent Invincible Aura looks certain to run well again for Marco Botti and Marco Ghiani, who was riding for the selection’s last win.

Invincible Aura returned from a short midwinter break to land a mile handicap at Lingfield under Ghiani this month and put in another good effort for the rider when third at that course last time.

The selection was beaten only three-quarters of a length by the winner on that occasion and led from halfway up the straight until well inside the final furlong. He was caught only in the final strides there.

He is up another 1lb in the weights and this is a different track, but a narrow second over course and distance in September suggests he has no problem with this venue and he can defy the small rise.
