The amateur jockey handicap that opens the Chelmsford card looks the perfect opportunity for Lauren Frost to record another win aboard the Kevin Frost-trained Amaysmont.

Frost has partnered the eight-year-old on four occasions, with a record of 4215, and importantly that win was secured over this course and distance the only time the pair have teamed up at this track.

Amaysmont has a fantastic record at this venue, with six visits resulting in form figures of 137111, and he is unbeaten over seven furlongs at Chelmsford.

He’s rated 2lb higher than his last winning mark, having held his form very well since landing a course-and-distance handicap in November, but it was just a couple of years since he was winning handicaps off marks in the 70s and his Racing Post Ratings suggests this mark shouldn’t be beyond him.

He’s won on his last three visits to the track, which is a major positive considering just one of his 10 rivals boasts a course success, and looks a rock-solid pick.

Diomed Spirit’s record at Chelmsford reads 5113 (the fifth came on his first start after a 72-day break) and he returns to the track for the 5f handicap on his last winning mark.

His third at Wolverhampton in December was just a 1lb shy of his career-best Racing Post Rating and the form has worked out well, with the runner-up bolting up in a handicap since, while the fourth has gone in on two occasions.

His two runs that followed at Lingfield are best ignored, as he was drawn widest of all on both occasions and was trapped on the outside for much of the race on the first occasion, while he was pushed up to race with the pace but didn’t see out the six furlongs on his next start.

He bounced back to form when third over course and distance in February behind one who improved for the fitting of first-time blinkers, travelling sweetly throughout but failing to peg back the winner who built up a nice advantage.

This looks a weaker race and, should he return to the sort of form he showed in December, he could be very hard to beat.

Boasty hasn’t won since landing a handicap at Wolverhampton in March, but he has dropped to a very attractive mark as a result and has shown enough in recent starts to suggest he may be ready to take advantage.

He has improved his Racing Post Rating with each start since returning from 154 days off the track, latterly finishing third over this course and distance behind a winner who has gone in again since, but is now 6lb below his last winning mark.

What is noteworthy is that the eight-year-old boasts a fantastic record over this course and distance in the spring months, with three wins, three seconds and two thirds from eight starts, while four of his five career wins have come in that timeframe too.

The booking of Hollie Doyle is a positive, given she steered Boasty to his last success the only time she has partnered him on the all-weather, and she is likely to boss the field from the front.
