17:30 – Breguet Boy @ 9/1

Archie Watson and Brodie Hampson have a good record when joining forces in amateur jockeys’ handicaps and they are fancied to team up for another winner with Breguet Boy in the opening Each Way Extra At bet365 Amateur Jockeys' Handicap.

Breguet Boy is equally effective on turf and sand and he proved that when following his victory at Windsor in October with a good second at Wolverhampton in February on his return from a break.

The seven-year-old failed to build on that when only sixth at Southwell last time, but he was sent for home too early, with connections attempting to make the most of his stamina on the drop to a mile. That didn’t work out and a line should be put through the run as he is far better suited by this 1m2f.

He races off the same mark as for his good second at Wolverhampton two starts ago and there is a strong chance that he can bounce back, provided returning to Chelmsford doesn’t prove a problem.

19:00 – Greek Giant @ 13/8

The Watch Live Racing At bet365 Handicap is the best race on the night and it can go to Greek Giant, who is unexposed over staying trips and might have more to offer at this distance.

The four-year-old was beaten just a head into second in a 1m6f handicap at this course in September and that was his first start over this sort of trip. He disappointed over 2m next time at Nottingham, but that was on heavy ground on turf and he bounced back at this course last time.

Greek Giant ran away with a 2m handicap by four and three-quarter lengths on that occasion and looked good value for further than the winning margin. He came through strongly off a solid pace to put the race away in comfortable fashion and rider Rossa Ryan, who is back on, eased him off late.

A 5lb rise in the weights doesn’t look too harsh given how easily he won that day and Greek Giant looks well capable of taking another step forward at a course which evidently suits him.

20:00 – Justahunch @ 5/1

Trainer Dylan Cunha’s sprinters have been in superb form and Justahunch was one of many to have run well recently when third at Lingfield last week. He looks like a good bet to go two places better in the Download The bet365 App Handicap under his regular partner Rhys Clutterbuck.

Justahunch has run only twice for the Cunha yard and on both occasions he kept on well from the rear after starting slowly. He was beaten only three and a half lengths into second at Southwell in March and then did all of his best work late when taking that third at Lingfield.

Both of those runs came over 5f, but he shapes like he will be well served by stepping up to 6f at this sharp track and Cunha switches the headgear up, with cheekpieces being added to the usual tonguestrap. That might do the trick and he is well treated off the same mark as last time.
