The opener at Beverley looks like one of the more attractive betting races on the card, particularly with Bet365 offering four places in the 12-runner contest.
There are a few in with chances but the one that has plenty in his favour is Sharrabang, who was only narrowly denied at Hamilton last time out having met some interference in the closing stages, and he has only been nudged up 2lb, despite closing all the way to the line.
Without a great deal of pace in today’s contest, he should be able to get a nice position from stall five and the stiff nature of the track at Beverley should also help bring his stamina into play, given that he stays seven furlongs.
The negatives include his very best form coming on artificial surfaces and a losing run that stretches back over two years.
However, it’s worth noting that his peak turf effort came on quick ground and he’s won his fair share of races down the years.
The yard is bang in form with four winners from their last 12 runners and plenty of others from Stella Barclay’s yard have placed in the last fortnight; this could be the time to catch the son of Coach House.

Sharrabang @ 5/1 - 1pt each-way
Later on the card, it might be worth taking a chance on the very well treated War Defender.
The son of War Command has dropped more than a stone in the handicap since winning at Newcastle last season and admittedly hasn’t shown much on two starts this year but he’s always been at his best when he gets an unpestered lead on the front end, and that looks like a distinct possibility in this line-up.
If he can find a return to form, the race should set up nicely for him given that front-runners are often hard to catch on the round course at Beverley and drying ground means conditions are also in his favour.
War Defender @ 18/1 - 0.5pt each-way
Last-time-out winner, Bay Dream Believer, has only been nudged up 2lb for her recent win at Wetherby and she could yet have more to give on just her 11th career start.
The filly picked up well from rear at Wetherby last time, a track that often favours those positioned more prominently, and the form of each of her last two starts is working out well, with both races producing winners.
She’s less exposed than the remainder of her rivals and is looking very well treated on her placed form for Andrew Balding last year.
With a decent pace to aim at despite the small field, with the likes of Arranmore and Shine On Brendan both likely to go forward, the filly could be hard to beat.
Bay Dream Believer @ 5/2 - 1pt win
