Horse Racing betting tips: Don't doubt Donnacha to cash in on big drop in class

There are four meetings in Britain on Friday and Racing Post tipster Graeme Rodway has scoured the cards to find his three best bets.

Horse Racing

2.10 Exeter - Donnacha @ 7/4

The 2m½f handicap hurdle (2.10) is one of the feature races on the card at Exeter and the one to back is DONNACHA, who was last seen finishing 11th in a red-hot handicap at Newbury.

Donnacha was beaten 20 lengths by winner Iberico Lord, but that rival has been supplemented for Tuesday's Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham and is no forlorn hope there. There won't be anything like that in this race and that gives my selection a chance to bounce back.

The six-year-old had previously recorded progressive Racing Post Ratings reading 107, 115, 117 and 119 on his four starts before contesting that Newbury contest and was evidently going forwards. He has also now dropped back to the same mark as when last successful.

Donnacha handles testing ground well and has plenty going for him now he is down in class.

Donnacha @ 7/4 - 1pt win

4.20 Leicester - Man Again @ 14/1

Harry Cobden is leaving no stone unturned in his bid to become champion jockey for the first time and it looks significant that he is booked for MAN AGAIN in the 2m4f handicap chase (4.20) at Leicester. It will be only his fourth ride for David Pipe's yard and he is 1-3 for them.

Man Again made his debut for the Pipe stable in a stronger race than this at Sandown last month and couldn't get competitive, eventually being pulled up. But this is an easier assignment and the five-year-old has a chance on the form he showed when trained in France.

He recorded an RPR of 123 when winning by 30-lengths at Auteuil in November 2022 and that is 6lb higher than his BHA rating of 117. That suggests he could be well handicapped.

There is every chance he will improve for his recent Sandown run, which was his first in more than a year, and this is a race that might not take much winning. He can cause an upset.

Graeme Rodway's tip:

Man Again @ 14/1 - 1pt win

7.30 Newcastle - Danielsflyer @ 6/1

The mile handicap (7.30) is the pick of the evening action at Newcastle and it might pay to stick with the course specialist, DANIELSFLYER. He comes here in top form at the age of ten.

The David Thompson-trained gelding has four wins, a second and three thirds from 19 starts at the course and his last two runs here have resulted in victories over 7f and at this mile trip.

He recorded a good time on the first occasion and was nicely on top over course and distance last week, when he came through strongly late to score easily by a length and three-quarters.

He has to carry a 4lb penalty in a stronger race, but will be running off 1lb higher in future, so is evidently still well handicapped. Another big run is surely on the cards under Sean Kirrane.

Graeme Rodway's tip:

Danielsflyer @ 6/1 - 1pt win
