bet365 Lancashire Oaks odds: Tiffany aims to sparkle at Haydock

Haydock's Premier Raceday card on Saturday is brimming with quality racing and nowhere more so than the bet365 Lancashire Oaks where Sir Mark Prescott's Tiffany headlines a field of eight runners.

Trainer John Gosden has won the Group 2 Fillies' & Mares' race a record nine times and will aim to hit double figures now alongside son and joint-trainer Thady as they saddle both Sweet Memories and Queen Of The Pride.

All the action at Haydock can be followed via the bet365's Sports Live Streaming service and here we are looking at the contenders for the bet365 Lancashire Oaks.

Sir Mark Prescott and Luke Morris won this race with Alpinista in 2021 before she went on to a famous Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe win at Longchamp some 15 months later. The trainer/jockey combo are back for more now with Tiffany. The daughter of Sea The Stars is hugely progressive and has figures of 11121 in her last five starts, including a smooth Group 3 win on the all-weather at Newcastle eight days ago on her 2024 comeback. She has her stamina tested further now and looks set for a major run.

Queen Of The Pride

This lightly-raced Qatar Racing-owned daughter of Roaring Lion is coming here after bagging the Group 3 Lester Piggott Fillies' Stakes over course and distance last month on her fourth career start. She overcame a slow start in that contest and held off the re-opposing Lady Boba gamely at the line. Oisin Murphy was on board for the first time that afternoon and retains the partnership now.

Lady Boba

The Lope De Vega filly is trained by Ralph Beckett and has only finished out of the first two once in her six-race career. Ended 2023 with a Listed success in the Grand Prix de Fontainebleau on soft ground in France and was only beaten a short-head by Queen Of The Pride in last month's comeback over C&D. Should have more to offer as rider Rossa Ryan looks for successive Saturday afternoon big-race winners.

Sea Theme

Sea The Stars filly progressed quickly last season to win the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes at York over this trip on quick ground in August on just her third start. She was well held in a Newmarket Group 3 afterwards and then finished fourth over C&D last month behind Queen Of The Pride and Lady Boba on her four-year-old bow. Now aims to give trainer William Haggas a first win in this race with regular pilot Tom Marquand on board.

Forest Fairy

Waldgeist filly won her first two starts, going from a Wolverhampton novice straight to the Listed Cheshire Oaks (1m3½f, good) at Chester in May. She was sent off as short as 10/1 for the Epsom Oaks afterwards and while ultimately well beaten there, it would be too reactionary to believe that Group 1 setback signals the end of her progress. Second contender for Ralph Beckett and she has Rob Hornby for company as Rossa Ryan jumps off to partner Lady Boba.

Sweet Memories

Sea The Stars filly gives John & Thady Gosden a second string to their bow in an attempt for the Clarehaven yard to land this race for a 10th time. She was a Listed winner at Newmarket (1m4f, soft) in August last year on her third start and then second in a Group 3 at HQ on much faster ground in September. Tackled the Group 1 British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot on her final outing and no shame coming up shy there. She likely has more to come this season. Rab Havlin rides.

Dandy Man filly for Gary & Jamie Moore, she is a bit more exposed than some of these rivals. She won three times last season, including a Newmarket Group 3 over 1m2f on soft in her final start. Has been racing over shorter in three runs this season so it will be interesting to see how this increased stamina-test plays out under regular rider Tom Queally.

As a six-year-old she is the oldest contender in the field but she only has six runs behind her. Two wins on the continent included a Listed score at Baden-Baden in May 2022 and she was returning from 689 days off when running a big race for a long way in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot last month. She was entitled to need that run and now sports a pair of first-time cheekpieces for Jamie and Saffie Osborne.
