The latest horse racing betting tips for Friday's card at Aintree Racecourse from Racing Post tipster Graeme Rodway.
2.20 Aintree - Kateira @ 7/1
4.05 Aintree - The Edgar Wallace @ 33/1
4.40 Aintree - Kyntara @ 10/1
Kateira @ 7/1
Dan Skelton saddles five runners in the 2m4f handicap hurdle (2.20) in a bid to bolster his trainers' championship hopes and his brother Harry might be on the right one out of them in KATEIRA.
The seven-year-old was second behind Champion Hurdle runner-up Irish Point in a Grade 1 over course and distance at this meeting last season and she had several top-class performers in behind her that day too, including You Wear It Well and Long Walk Hurdle hero Crambo.
Kateira was disappointing on her first two starts this season in November, but appears to have been trained with a spring campaign in mind as she was off the track through the winter and returned only at Kempton last month. She kept on nicely for a close fourth and will improve.
The return to this track, where she ran so well last season, is evidently in Kateira's favour and the soft ground shouldn't be a problem. She has won twice on a soft surface and goes on any surface.
The Edgar Wallace @ 33/1
The Topham Handicap Chase (4.05) is always a thriller over the Grand National fences and the one to be on this year is THE EDGAR WALLACE, who comes into this in the form of his life.
The nine-year-old relishes testing ground and has recorded three consecutive career-best Racing Post Ratings, winning on heavy at Leicester in December and twice going close in second on his last two outings. He has appeared to idle too and may have had a bit more left.
He traded at 1.04 in running when second at Wetherby two starts ago and 1.06 at Newcastle last time, so on both occasions it looked like he had the win in the bag and is clearly thriving.
The Edgar Wallace is a bold jumping front-runner who should be well suited by this test over the Grand National fences and he has escaped a rise for his good run last time. He could run a big race at what is likely to be a huge price for the in-form Kim Bailey and David Bass team.
Kyntara @ 10/1
The Sefton Novices' Hurdle (4.40) is the last Grade 1 on the card and the progressive KYNTARA appears to have been underestimated in the market for small trainer Mel Rowley.
Kyntara was successful on heavy ground over course and distance in December and has run well three times since in defeat. He comes here following three straight seconds in handicap company and the last was a career-best when runner-up in the Pertemps Final at Cheltenham.
This is a different test back in novice company and it's possible one or two might have more class, but Kyntara definitely has the form to compete and he is a guaranteed stayer who is tough, genuine and certain to run his race. There is every chance he can spring a surprise.
