Aidan O'Brien Royal Ascot day three accumulator: 362/1 four-fold to consider

Aidan O'Brien is aiming to become top trainer at Royal Ascot for the eighth time in 10 years and the Irishman has plenty of chances to hit the target on day three.

The Ballydoyle supremo will be saddling the likes of Gold Cup favourite Kyprios and Norfolk Stakes contender Whistlejacket on a busy middle afternoon at the Berkshire venue.

The below four-fold accumulator at Royal Ascot pays at odds of 362/1 at the current prices.

Aidan O'Brien Royal Ascot day three accumulator

14:30 Norfolk Stakes - Whistlejacket @ 5/4
15:05 King George V Stakes - Gallantly @ 10/1
16:25 Gold Cup - Kyprios @ 5/6
17:40 Hampton Court Stakes - Portland @ 7/1

Norfolk Stakes - Whistlejacket

The Group 2 Norfolk Stakes is the scene-setter on day three and it is a contest O'Brien has won three times in the past, with Johannesburg, Waterloo Bridge and Sioux Nation.

The trainer recently suggested he felt Whistlejacket 'couldn't be beaten on his debut' before he was second to Cowardofthecounty at the Curragh in April.

That rival was beaten by less than two lengths in the Group 1 Coventry Stakes on Tuesday.

Whistlejacket, meanwhile, dropped to this 5f trip at the Curragh and won the Listed First Flier Stakes in commanding fashion, beating next-time-out Group 3 winner Arizona Blaze.

The formlines for this No Nay Never colt are very promising and he looks a major contender to get O'Brien and Ryan Moore off to a quick start on day three.

King George V Stakes - Gallantly

The 20-runner King George V Stakes is a competitive affair and O'Brien accounts for a four-strong assault with Gaspe De Lemon, Chantilly, Autumn Winter and Gallantly in contention.

Moore is on Chantilly, but Gallantly might be a better option under Wayne Lordan.

Moore's mount was beaten into third in last month's London Gold Cup at Newbury and has gone up 3lb for that.

Rated 10lb lower and with a nice weight of 8st 10lb here, Gallantly did well to win a Chester maiden last month after having to wait for room coming off the running rail in the home straight.

The Frankel colt picked up well in the circumstances on that first try at 1m2½f and he could improve another chunk going into handicaps as his stamina is further explored.

Gold Cup - Kyprios

The feature race of the week is the Gold Cup and Kyprios will be attempting to regain the crown he won in gutsy fashion in 2022 as a four-year-old.

The son of Galileo didn't make the race last summer, with a setback keeping him sidelined, and was then beaten in a couple of autumn starts at Leopardstown and here on Champions Day over shorter than this 2m4f trip.

He is back on track this term, with wins in the Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan (1m6f, good) and the Saval Beg Levmoss Stakes at Leopardstown (1m6f, good).

If he retains all of his ability, and there's nothing to suggest he doesn't, then Kyprios is very much the one to beat back in this stamina-sapping contest as the trainer looks to win for a record-extending ninth time.

Hampton Court Stakes - Portland

O'Brien and Moore share the record for wins in the Hampton Court with four each. They have two together, Hunting Horn (2018) and Russian Emperor (2020), and will be aiming to make that three with Portland.

The Dubawi colt wasn't a star last season at two, opening his account in a handicap at the Galway Races in August over 7f.

He then shaped well in a trio of decent races at the Curragh, Haydock and Saint-Cloud without winning.

This season began with more solid form at Naas and Sandown before winning the Listed King George V Cup at Leopardstown this month as he stepped up to 1m4f for the first time.

The stiff finish here should see him to good effect over this shorter distance and he is right in the mix to give his trainer/jockey their latest wins in this Group 3 event.
