Aidan O'Brien Royal Ascot day five accumulator: 104/1 Ballydoyle finale in prospect

Aidan O'Brien is well on course to be crowned top trainer at Royal Ascot for the eighth time in 10 years as the Irishman inches ever-closer to a century of winners at this great meeting.

The Ballydoyle supremo celebrated a 401st Group 1 winner here already this week and has some cracking chances on Saturday's Royal Ascot card.

The below four-fold accumulator at Royal Ascot pays at odds of 104/1 at current prices.

Aidan O'Brien Royal Ascot day five accumulator

14:30 Chesham Stakes – Bedtime Story @ 9/4
15:05 Hardwicke Stakes – Continuous @ 13/8
16:25 Jersey Stakes – River Tiber @ 7/4
18:15 Queen Alexandra Stakes – Queenstown @ 7/2

Chesham Stakes – Bedtime Story

There are plenty of fairy tales that don't go as smoothly as O'Brien does at this meeting and Bedtime Story could provide another happy ending for the Ballydoyle chief in the opening Chesham Stakes.

The Frankel fill made a perfect start to her career at Leopardstown (7½f, good) earlier this month when accounting for more fancied stablemate Giselle in ready fashion.

That form has already been franked by a couple of those that finished in behind and Bedtime Story should come on plenty for the run, while that proven stamina over slightly further bodes well here.

She gets her fillies' allowance and with doubts lingering over the Charlie Appleby string this week, should account for €625,000 Godolphin colt Age Of Gold, who won well at Yarmouth on debut.

Hardwicke Stakes – Continuous

The 2023 St Leger winner returns to the track for his first four-year-old run. He ran a blinder over C&D last June when second to King Of Steel – winner of the Champion Stakes back here in the autumn – before winning the Great Voltigeur at York and that Doncaster Classic with a strong staying performance over 1m6½f in September.

He was beaten just over three-lengths in the Arc on his final appearance, with O'Brien recently suggesting a more forceful ride at Longchamp might have seen him to better effect.

The Ballydoyle boss is also on record suggesting he is happy to have come here without a prep run and that this Heart's Cry colt can improve again this season. He looks a big player for the Hardwicke.

Jersey Stakes – River Tiber

Last year's Coventry Stakes winner at this meeting, the Wootton Bassett colt is back for more Royal Ascot glory.

That remains his most recent win but all three starts since were in Group 1 company and he finished third in each instance.

The most recent was in last month's Irish 2000 Guineas as he tackled a mile for the first time, beaten a length-and-a-half behind Rosallion – the St James's Palace winner here on Tuesday – and Haatem.

The latter re-opposes now but must concede 3lb to River Tiber – while Richard Hannon's inmate was only fifth when they met in that Coventry Stakes here last June.

Given how the Ballydoyle team have been improving first-to-second run this season, River Tiber is a major danger to all in the Jersey Stakes.

Queen Alexandra Stakes – Queenstown

There's a decent chance the best could be saved for last on day five as Queenstown bids for glory in the Queen Alexandra Stakes – the longest Flat race run in Britain or Ireland.

This Galileo colt was last spotted finishing a length behind Kyprios at Leopardstown over 1m6f last month, with that stablemate of course going to make some history in becoming just the third horse ever to regain the Gold Cup here on Thursday.

That Saval Beg Levmoss Stakes was a fine effort from Queenstown and Dawn Rising, winner of this race 12 months ago, was behind in fifth spot racing off level weights.

Having twice finished second to Kyprios in Ireland this season, Queenstown should be due major respect. He has to prove his stamina but, if he does, he'll be a hard nut to crack and he's getting 4lb from Dawn Rising this time.
