According to journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic, Liverpool have set their asking price for Harvey Elliott.
Ornstein added that Liverpool want "£40m+ with buy-back or £50m+ without" the involvement of the clause. The 22 year old is reportedly "eyeing regular football at elite (potentially UEFA Champions League) level so may look to go abroad."
Having played 147 games for Liverpool at the age of 22, it’s unsurprising that Elliott is attracting interest from clubs all over Europe.
With that, however, comes a sizeable price tag, and it seems as though the Reds aren’t looking to entertain business for the player for a fee less than £40m.
Elliot heads into the summer transfer window off the back of an impressive U21 Euro campaign for England.
Scoring five times throughout the competition, only the highly rated centre forward Nick Woltemade beat the keeper on more occasions (six).
Finding the net twice in the semi-final against Netherlands U21s and once in the final against Germany U21s, Elliott’s stellar performances were rewarded with the Player of the Tournament award, following in the footsteps of previous winner Anthony Gordon.
While Elliott has never been shy in hiding his love for Liverpool, the arrival of record signing Florian Wirtz and the presence of Mohamed Salah at right-wing means the likelihood of him receiving regular minutes is slim.
Should the Reds look to sell the creator, Brighton appear the most likely according to our Harvey Elliott betting odds and recent reports. The Seagulls are set to lose Joao Pedro to Chelsea, and may see Elliott as an ideal candidate to add some inventiveness to the Brighton attack.
As stated by Ornstein though, a move abroad is an option, and that could also guarantee UEFA Champions League football.
