Harry Brook has been named as captain of England men's ODI and T20 teams.
The 26-year-old will take over from Jos Buttler who resigned in March following England's disappointing Champions Trophy performance.
In his relatively short career, Brook has been outstanding in an England shirt, climbing to second in the ICC World Batting Rankings in Test cricket.
The Yorkshireman has also excelled in limited-over cricket, amassing 816 ODI runs at an average of 34, whilst also being a part of England's T20 World Cup winning squad in 2022.
Brook is an experienced leader, skippering his country at Under-19 level before deputising in Buttler's absence during last September's ODI series against Australia.
Speaking on the decision, Brook said: “It’s a real honour to be named England’s white-ball captain. Ever since I was a kid playing cricket at Burley in Wharfedale, I dreamed of representing Yorkshire, playing for England, and maybe one day leading the team.
“There’s so much talent in this country, and I’m looking forward to getting started, moving us forward, and working towards winning series, World Cups and major events. I’m excited to get going and give it everything I’ve got.”
His first assignment will be a three-match ODI series against visiting West Indies. A trio of T20 matches will follow, adding to Brook's workload as he balances his new responsibilities with a distinguished Test career.
