Greyhound racing betting tips: Bombout Bullet & Coonough Crow backed to prevail at Towcester

There's £175,000 up for grabs in this year's Derby and two semi-finals take place on Saturday night at the Northamptonshire circuit.

And Racing Post tipster Dave Clark has three tips to look out for on a big evening of racing at Towcester.

Dave Clark's Tips:

18:01 Towcester - Bombout Bullet @ 6/4
19:47 Towcester - Boylesports Bob @
11/8
20:40 Towcester - Coonough Crow @

Saturday night will be a brilliant evening of racing at Towcester with the Derby semi-finals supported by semis for an array of other competitions making for a gala evening of action.

The meeting kicks off with the £2,500 Hope Jeal Sprint Trophy over 270m and in heat one, the very first contest on the 12-race card, Belinda Green's National Sprint champion represents the best bet of the whole night.

After a couple of shock defeats, this top-class sprinter has looked back to somewhere near his best - including a smart heat win last week from a tricky draw out in trap four.

On Saturday night he switches inside to a more favourable box in trap two and can fly into the opening turn to make all the running.

He may also be of interest to punters in the ante-post market, surprisingly he isn't outright favourite, but he should be.

Paul Hennessy is a member of a very select band of trainers with Scottish, Irish and English Derby titles to their names and his wide seed is a big contender for this year's £175,000 top prize.

A powerful tracker and one of just three seeded Derby hopefuls remaining of the 12 left standing at the semi-final stage, the trap draw has been kind to him drawn on the outside of five railers in the opening semi - including the slow-starting Coss Tokyo, who will move inside from trap five.

With the coast clear around the outside, should this talented son of Good News bring his trapping boots, just as he did in his quarter final, then he will be very hard to beat.

20:40 Towcester - Coonough Crow @ 4/6

A number of exciting supporting competitions are running alongside the £175,000 Greyhound Derby, including the £2,500 Mark Siddall Memorial Trophy over 712m - which is developing into one of the best staying competitions of the year.

The Mark Wallis-trained Kent St Leger champion and 2023 Grand Prix heroine had her colours lowered last week by Queen Georgia, but ran well in defeat from a tricky draw out in trap four.

The classy railer now switches to a more favourable inside berth in trap one and can make the most of the inside advantage around the opening two turns.

Queen Mother Memorial Cup winner Savana Heross rates as the main danger in trap two, but he will need to get around Coonough Crow at the first bend - which looks a tall order.

Boxed nicely on the inside, this is a great chance for one of the stayers in the country to get back to winning ways and go marching on into next week's final.
