Stars both on and off the track are on show down on the south coast this weekend, with this year's PGR Trainers' Judgement Night - formerly known as the Trainers' Championship - scheduled for Saturday night.

Six top-quality legs over a variety of distances will be filled by runners from the top six trainers and the teams will pick up points in each race - with whoever collects the most points crowned champion.

Leg two of the PGR Trainers' Judgement Night is a match up on the inside between champion sprinter Quarteira and classy four-bend star King Capaldi.

The former will go to traps as the favourite with the inside line into the opening turn and the fact he is the more established performer over two bends, however Liz McNair's King Capaldi has shown an ability to explode from the boxes on more than one occasion and he comes into the 285m contest fresh.

We've not seen King Capaldi in action since his shock elimination from the Laurels at Perry Barr three weeks ago, that freshness can prompt a flashy exit and enable him to crucially wrestle the inside rail away from Quarteira in the opening strides.

Once in command, the tight-railing Puppy Derby runner-up has huge speed and can hold his pitch into the bend before clearing away.

Each trainer is given the opportunity to select a 'Joker' among the six PGR Trainers' Judgement Night legs which will provide double points. 14-times Champion Trainer Mark Wallis has opted to select Cesarewitch champion Garfiney Blaze to carry his and spearhead his team - which is a very wise move.

There has been a real struggle to find a race for the superstar stayer in recent weeks, with any potential rivals swerving him and connections have been forced to trial rather than compete over the 695m trip.

He is unbeaten at Hove over course and distance in three starts previously, though, and a fourth success is strongly expected with the lack of early speed on his inside.

bet365 Hunt Cup champion Havana Top Note rates as a big danger from trap five and may lead early on, but Garfiney Blaze is booked to take up a handy position with a lap to go and will prove very tough to hold from halfway - he is the best bet of the night.

There is a very good possibility that this year's Judgement Night will come down to the final leg, which is likely to be fought out between Irish Oaks champion Crafty Shivoo and recent Brighton Belle heroine Queen Joni.

The duo met over 515m last weekend in the Brighton Belle final, Queen Joni flashed out and made all while Crafty Shivoo struggled after a missed break and put in a very below-par performance.

However, conditions underfoot on the inside were tacky and testing - there are most certainly excuses for Crafty Shivoo. She is a champion, last year she also picked up the bet365 Empress Stakes title at Towcester and can get back to winning ways here.

The finale is over 500m, the shorter run to the corner will be in her favour as she will have the massive advantage of the inside racing line from trap one into the turn and can defend the rail.
