Picking a Grand National winner is notoriously tricky, even for the biggest horse racing experts.

In a 40-horse race (this year reduced to 34), so much can happen that affects each horse's chances, and horses as big as 100/1 can emerge victorious.

While favourites do win their share, it's only around once every five years that a favourite crosses the line first, with the majority of winners coming at bigger odds.
