Graham Potter Next England Manager odds: Former Chelsea & Brighton head coach favourite to succeed Gareth Southgate

Graham Potter is the clear favourite to become the next England manager.

bet365's Steve Freeth said: "There were a number of three-figure wagers on Graham Potter after England's dull draw with Denmark that saw him cut from 5/1 to 2/1, before we saw plenty of attention for Poch over the weekend.

"This gamble has been stronger, though, with some even taking the 1/3 about Potter taking over from Gareth Southgate."

Potter has been out of work since being dismissed by Chelsea in April 2023, only seven months into his tenure at Stamford Bridge.

The 49-year-old has been linked with a whole host of vacancies over the last 12 months, though nothing has come to fruition and Potter remains on the market.

Declining the opportunity to manage Dutch giants Ajax, rumours of a return to Brighton were murmured following Roberto De Zerbi's departure. Potter subsequently declared he had no interest in filling the vacancy at the Amex Stadium.

He was the favourite to take over at Leicester City until negotiations collapsed. The Foxes have since appointed Steve Cooper as their new manager.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly an admirer of the former Brighton and Chelsea chief, but the Manchester United job is currently out of the shop window after the club declared their commitment to Erik ten Hag for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

In a period that's been awash with managerial changes, Potter now finds himself short of viable options again, though a number of bet365 punters have seen value in the Solihull-born tactician becoming the next manager of England.

Discontent was rife among England supporters following an insipid display against Denmark at Euro 2024 and pressure had mounted on Gareth Southgate, though their progression to the semi-finals of the tournament has silenced many critics.

One of the favourites heading into the tournament, the Three Lions have underwhelmed in Germany and their performances have often left more questions than answers, despite a favourable draw making them favourites to win.

Southgate's contract expires at the end of the calendar year, though FA chief executive Mark Bullingham is reportedly keen to tie him down to fresh terms that would see him lead England to the 2026 World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico.
