Horse Racing Tips: Graeme Rodway's Sandown Sunday Series tips

The last of six rounds of Sunday Series events takes place at Sandown this weekend and here Racing Post tipster Graeme Rodway runs you through his best bets at the Esher venue.

Primo's Comet can step on the gas

The Sunday Series Sprint Handicap (4.12) is a competitive contest with a big field and Primo's Comet might be capable of continuing his fine recent run of form in sprint races.

Primo's Comet was beaten just a nose when second at Musselburgh in June and a neck when filling the same position on his next start at Doncaster last month. However, he got his reward for those consistent efforts back at Musselburgh two starts ago, landing a four-runner sprint by a neck.

He went up 4lb, but again showed his form when a strong-finishing fourth in a red-hot 20-runner York handicap last time and he shaped like he would be suited by a stiffer test. The 5f course at Sandown is uphill all the way and Primo's Comet will be well suited by the track.

He has a big chance off 1lb lower with William Buick an eyecatching jockey booking. Buick has booted home two winners and a third from just five mounts for the Jim Goldie stable.

Pledge Of Honour deserves maximum respect

Dean Ivory is a top trainer when he gets the ammunition and Pledge Of Honour is fancied to make it five wins from his last seven runs in the Sunday Series Apprentice Handicap (5.12).

Pledge Of Honour has form figures of 341 at this track and scored over course and distance when successful two outings ago. He improved on that when winning in even easier fashion in a 1m2f handicap at Doncaster 17 days ago when getting a career-best Racing Post Rating.

He has gone up another 6lb in the weights, but is still 1lb below his career high and there could still be more to come in his current form. He won't need to improve much to win again.

William Cox is one of the better jockeys available in this apprentice contest and Ivory hit the target with Dors Toyboy at Chelmsford last Sunday. The yard might be about to hit top form.

Precisely can complete a hat-trick

Pledge Of Honour finished second to Precisely at Newbury in June and it's worth sticking with that form line and backing Precisely to land the Sunday Series Fillies' Handicap (5.42).

Precisely came from the rear to score comfortably that day and he shrugged aside a 3lb rise in the weights when following up in a 1m2f handicap at Ffos Las last month on soft conditions.

Harry Davies took over claiming 5lb that day and is good value for his allowance. He is back in the saddle to partner this thriving five-year-old who appears to be in the form of his life.

Trainer John Butler's string is in fantastic form, having sent out two big handicap winners at York's Ebor meeting last week, and Precisely looks capable of dealing with this stronger race. A 4lb rise in the weights may not be enough to stop him from completing a hat-trick of wins.
