Cave Rock looks solid in the Juvenile

The main bulk of the action at Keeneland takes place on Saturday, but the best bet of the entire weekend is Cave Rock in the FanDuel Breeders' Cup Juvenile presented by T'bred Aftercare Alliance (9.00) on Friday. He is taken to give Bob Baffert a sixth win in the race.

The son of Arrogate has looked outstanding in winning three from three and he recorded a Racing Post Rating of 121 when running away with the American Pharoah Stakes at Santa Anita last month. If he can run to that level again, it will take a smart performer to beat him.

The last ten runnings of this race have been won with RPRs of 117, 118, 118, 114, 123, 119, 117. 115, 118 and 118, so Cave Rock's 121 would have won nine of the last 10 on that form.

The exciting thing about Cave Rock is that he looks certain to improve again and this big, well-developed youngster looks well in advance of his rivals at this stage of his career.

He is a short price, but rates maximum bet material to get us a winner on the first day.

In Italian looks a tasty wager

Nashwa heads the market for the Maker's Mark Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (5.50) on Saturday, but she has had a long season and Chad Brown will have In Italian primed here.

Brown has won this race four times in the last 10 seasons and In Italian has looked good when recording front-running Grade 1 wins on her last two starts in the 1m1f Diana at Saratoga and the First Lady here last time. That was good preparation for this contest.

The time was good and Brown was quick to say that In Italian would improve for the run after the race. This is a stiffer test, in terms of both stamina and opposition, but In Italian should be capable of dealing with it and she rates a value bet to lower Nashwa's colours.

Modern Games can land another Breeders' Cup win

Charlie Appleby rarely leaves this fixture without a winner and Modern Games should land the FanDuel Breeders' Cup Mile presented by Permanently Disabled Jockey Fund (7.10).

The son of Dubawi proved well suited by the American style of racing when landing the Juvenile Turf at Del Mar last season and he has shown even better form in Europe this year.

Modern Games recorded a career-best when running Baaeed to a length and three-quarters in second in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood in July and he followed his Woodbine Mile win in Canada next time with another good second, this time in Ascot's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.

Appleby will probably have left a bit to work on and Modern Games can take another step forward to land a second Breeders' Cup win for outstanding champion jockey William Buick.

Epicenter can shake up Flightline

Flightline has been hailed as the best horse in the world on the back of his impressive victory in the Pacific Classic at Del Mar, but he is a very short price and it's worth taking him on with the wide-margin Travers winner Epicenter in the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic (9.40).

Epicenter is probably the best horse Flightline has ever met and the progressive three-year-old finished second in both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness.

However, he didn't get the ideal trip in either and has since proved himself better than he was able to show with back-to-back wins at Saratoga, with his Travers success a big career-best RPR.

He will need to improve again to beat Flightline, but Epicenter found 9lb on his previous best when scoring last time and is often quicker into stride than Flightline, who can miss the start.

Trainer Steve Asmusson won in 2017 with Gun Runner and Epicenter can cause an upset.
