We have reached the start of the women's Major season, with The Chevron Championship taking place at The Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at The Club at Carlton Woods for the third year running.
Lilia Vu claimed the spoils at this venue in 2023, beating Angel Yin in a play-off, before Nelly Korda continued her stunning run of form when lifting the trophy in 2024.
Korda's victory was her fifth in a row as she dominated the first few months of the 2024 LPGA season, but the defending champion arrives in Texas without a win to her name this year and history looks to be against her.
Since the tournament was awarded Major status in 1983, just one player, Annika Sorenstam, has managed to successfully retain her title, having achieved this feat in 2002.
Eight of the best female amateurs will be teeing it up this week, including Augusta National Women's Amateur champion Carla Bernat Escuder and 2024 ANWA winner Lotte Woad.
Yealimi Noh to win and each-way - 28/1
This is a stacked field for the opening women's Major and one player who looks capable of putting in a serious challenge is 23-year-old American Yealimi Noh, who recorded her best Chevron finish last year when taking a share of ninth place.
Noh returns 12 months later as an LPGA Tour winner following her victory at the Founders Cup in February, having romped to a four-stroke success at Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, New Jersey.
The world number 20 has recorded two top-10s and two top-20 finishes since that triumph and all the signs are pointing towards another positive display at a course her skill set should thrive on.
The Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at The Club at Carlton Woods offers generous fairways, putting less emphasis on the driver, but the undulating greens that are protected by bunkers and water demand accuracy on approach.
It therefore bodes well that Noh ranks first in both strokes gained approach and tee-to-green, while she is also second in SG total and fourth in greens in regulation.
If the US ace can enjoy a solid week with the putter, which is arguably the club that can let her down at times, then there looks to be every chance she can land her maiden Major.
Ina Yoon to win and each-way - 40/1
Another player to watch out for this week is Ina Yoon, who has made a solid start to her rookie LPGA year and could spring a surprise by landing her maiden Major.
The South Korean recorded her best finish of the season last time out when tied-16th at the JM Eagle LA Championship and that should have given her a big confidence boost ahead of this challenge.
Yoon is third in strokes gained approach and fifth in tee-to-green, evidence of her impressive long game, but a cold putter has been keeping her posting better results.
The 21-year-old wielded the flat stick with greater authority at the LA Championship and if she can replicate that standard in Texas, then she could challenge at big odds.
Akie Iwai to win and each-way - 33/1
Another LPGA rookie who has caught the eye this year is Akie Iwai, who has twice come close to landing her first title with runner-up efforts at the Honda LPGA Thailand and JM Eagle LA Championship.
The 22-year-old is fifth in strokes gained approach and ninth in tee-to-green, while she is also 11th in greens in regulation and 10th in putts per GIR.
With there being a plethora of bunkers at the course, it's likely a player will have to get up-and-down from the traps so it bodes well that Iwai is eighth in sand saves.
