The PGA Tour is in the Lone Star state this week, with the world number one amongst the strong field for the Byron Nelson in Texas.
Scottie Scheffler returns to action after a week off and the two-time Masters champion will expect to mount a strong bid for the $1.78million winner’s cheque.
The Tom Weiskopf-designed TPC Craig Ranch - a par 71 - will provide a stiff test for the field, but will also provide plenty of birdie opportunities, with a -23 score winning the tournament in the last two editions.
Sam Burns to win and each-way - 25/1
It’s been a mixed bag for Sam Burns so far this season, but he looks to have turned a corner in recent weeks and should be full of confidence heading to Texas.
Earlier in the year, the man from Louisiana recorded one top-10 and three top-30 finishes, which has helped him move back inside the top-40 of the world rankings.
Three consecutive missed cuts in March and early April will have caused concern, but a better display at Augusta has been built upon.
Burns finished T46 in the Masters and then followed that up with a T13 spot a week later, at the RBC Heritage when he carded four sub-70 rounds.
The 28-year-old is currently ranked fourth in the PGA Tour putting stats and 12th in the birdie rankings, ahead of what is likely to be a low-scoring week.
Jake Knapp to win and each-way - 55/1
A third-placed finish in the Zurich Classic, alongside Frankie Capan, has seen Jake Knapp move into the top-40 of the FedEx Cup standings.
That result was one of two top-10s for the Californian in the last two months, while a T12 finish at the Players Championship highlights the progress the 30-year-old has made.
Knapp returns to the scene of an eighth-placed finish in 2024, when he carded consecutive rounds of 64 in the first two rounds.
He’s only been on the main Tour since the start of 2024, but the 30-year-old has already got a title to his name, with victory in last year’s Mexico Open.
Matt Wallace to win and each-way - 66/1
It’s two years since Englishman Matt Wallace won his only PGA Tour title to date - the 2023 Corales Puntacana Championship - but the signs are good that another win is close.
The world number 86 finished T26 at another event in this state, the Texas Open, in early April and that included a frustrating third round 77.
Wallace followed that up with a T12 spot in the 2025 Puntacana Championship, when he opened up with a 64.
The Londoner teamed up with Thorbjorn Olesen at last week’s Zurich Classic, with the European pair carding a first-round 62, but a 74 on the Friday saw them miss the cut.
There have been plenty of positive signs though for Wallace, who has happy memories of this tournament. He led last year after day one, thanks to an impressive 63 and eventually finished T4.
