The circuit has moved from Australia, where Elvis Smylie won the Australian PGA Championship before Ryggs Johnston was victorious in the Australian Open.
Both of those buoyant outsiders are lining up at Gary Player Country Club for the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
Smylie can be backed at 66/1 to triumph on his Nedbank debut, while Johnston is 75/1 for what would be a remarkable back-to-back success.
The top of the market features Presidents Cup stars Corey Conners and Christiaan Bezuidenhout, who are 10/1 and 12/1 respectively.
Max Homa is the highest-ranked player in the field. The American, who won the Nedbank by four shots 12 months ago, is 14/1 for a repeat success. His compatriot Will Zalatoris has also jetted over and will be making his Nedbank debut, earning an 18/1 quote.
Tom McKibbin to win and each-way - 20/1
Relief was etched on the face of Tom McKibbin when he birdied the final hole of the DP World Tour Championship last time out, securing a PGA Tour card in the process, and the Northern Irishman's wonderful end to the year can continue in South Africa.
A happy, relaxed McKibbin should prove a leading title contender in the Nedbank, where he finished 33rd on his Gary Player Country Club debut 12 months ago. His record in South Africa is generally excellent, with eight top-20s in 14 starts as a professional.
Strong driving is the key to success at this venue and McKibbin is one of the best in the business in this department of the game. He ended the last DPWT season with 10th place in Abu Dhabi and 11th in Dubai, and can get in the mix in his first tournament of the new campaign.
Nicolai Hojgaard to win and each-way - 18/1
Danish dude Nicolai Hojgaard has won a DP World Tour event in each of the previous three seasons and is looking to extend that streak in the Nedbank Golf Challenge. Having hit form in recent weeks, he can be expected to be a huge title threat.
Results of 18-20-9-13 from his last four tournaments will encourage Hojgaard, who finished runner-up in last year's Nedbank. Closing rounds of 65, 66, 68 in Abu Dhabi last time out suggest the Ryder Cup star is bringing his A-game to South Africa.
Hojgaard's 15-under-par total last year would have been enough to win any of the previous five editions of the Nedbank. He is 58th in the world rankings and eager to finish the year in the top 50 to secure a Masters invitation.
Aldrich Potgieter to win and each-way - 90/1
A lively outsider for Nedbank glory may be Aldrich Potgieter, a South African youngster who spent a lot of time on the leaderboard in the Australian PGA Championship the week before last, eventually finishing eighth.
The 20-year-old won the Amateur Championship in 2022, then an event on the Korn Ferry Tour in January, so he has quickly made his mark.
Potgieter was the youngest winner in Korn Ferry Tour history and will be relishing the chance to show off his talent in an event once known as 'Africa's Major'.
