The ‘Opening Swing’ of the DP World Tour comes to a conclusion with this week’s Mauritius Open, which heads back to Mont Choisy for the first time since 2022.
Shaun Norris won the Alfred Dunhill Championship last week, so there is scope for back-to-back South African champions on the DP World Tour.
Louis Oosthuizen has decided not to defend his Mauritius Open title, leaving Antoine Rozner as the clear favourite.
French ace Rozner is a three-time DPWT winner, who won the Mauritius Open the last time it was staged at this venue.
Casey Jarvis to win and each-way - 22/1
Carding two eagles and 23 birdies in the Alfred Dunhill Championship last week should give Casey Jarvis a huge amount of confidence going into the Mauritius Open. He endured three disastrous holes which undid much of his good work, but is clearly hitting his ball with authority.
Jarvis made a double-bogey in round one, a triple-bogey in round two and a quadruple-bogey in round four, suffering in some greenside water hazards, but his general Dunhill performance was excellent.
The 21-year-old is arguably the most talented youngster in South Africa and a maiden DPWT title should come sooner rather than later.
When Jarvis played at Mont Choisy in 2022, he was a lowly ranked and inexperienced teenager, but he was in fifth place after two rounds. There was certainly no disgrace in a faltering weekend and an eventual share of 40th place. He has returned to the track this week as one of the most dangerous players in attendance.
Christo Lamprecht to win and each-way - 45/1
South African giant Christo Lamprecht has the game to cut Mont Choisy down to size. One of the longest drivers in the world, he can attack the five par-fives with relish and the two driveable par-fours.
Having finished 23rd in a PGA Tour event a month ago - the Bermuda Championship - Lamprecht will feel confident he can take advantage of this downgrade to the DP World Tour. He is raw and inexperienced, but is a former world number one amateur who should develop into one of the best players in this field in the years to come.
Lamprecht is making his course debut, but the generous fairways and African turf should have him licking his lips.
Kieran Vincent to win and each-way - 35/1
A victory on the Asian Tour for Kieran Vincent last year was followed by a breakthrough on the Sunshine Tour in May this year, so the Zimbabwean will have plenty of playing opportunities in the months to come, despite losing his LIV Golf status in September.
Vincent is a power-packed player who should fall in love with the Mont Choisy layout. He boasts Asian Tour form figures of 4-18-9-9 from his last four tournaments, so has arrived in Mauritius with his game in great order.
A year on the LIV circuit, competing in the same team as Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton, has made Vincent financially secure. He is entirely focused on glory and silverware in Mauritius, rather than worrying about the prize money.
Given the weakness of this week's field, Vincent appears as a fairly big fish in a small pond, and he will fear nobody in attendance.
