Jake Knapp has registered the longest drive of 2025 on the PGA Tour, measuring 444 yards, but how does that compare to the longest drives in history?
A 787-yard drive from the little-known Carl Cooper was aided by a cart path, so doesn't make the list, but all those that have sent the ball over 450 yards do.
In this article, we highlight the top-10 longest drives in PGA Tour history, and the holes and courses where these monster hits were recorded.
1 - Max Homa
Hole 7 - Plantation Course, Kapalua
477 yards
Californian Homa averages around 300 yards off the tee, but he sits top of this list after a huge drive at The Sentry in 2023.
The undulating Plantation Course features heavily in this list due to its downhill holes and the increased elevation allows the ball to fly further through the air, as Homa proved with his record-breaking effort.
2 - Davis Love III
Hole 18 - Plantation Course, Kapalua
476 yards
Davis Love was 40 years old when he recorded this huge drive on the 18th at the Plantation Course in 2004.
The final hole at the Kapalua track is a par-five played downhill, with an aggressive slope to allow the ball to bound along the fairway if the right line is taken.
3 - Jeff Sluman
Hole 14 - Palmer Course, PGA West
473 yards
Another veteran, Sluman smashed this impressive drive at the 14th hole at PGA West during the 2003 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.
4 - Charley Hoffman
Hole 1 - La Cantera
467 yards
Four-time PGA Tour winner Hoffman registered his impressive drive on the first tee at the Valero Texas Open in 2009.
Seven years later, Hoffman actually won the event with a 12-under-par total.
5 - Dustin Johnson
Hole 7 – TPC Boston
463 yards
DJ has always been a big-hitter, registering a 498-yard drive at the Dell Match Play in 2018, although shots in that format don't qualify for this list.
However, this 2011 effort was an especially long tee shot at the Dell Technologies Championship.
The 7th is ranked as the hardest hole at TPC Boston, a 600-yard par-five, but Johnson cut it down to size by taking 463 yards out of the challenge.
6 - Scott Stallings
Hole 15 - TPC Scottsdale

The Phoenix Open is one of the most popular events on the PGA Tour and Scott Stallings recorded a 450+ drive on the hard and fast rolling fairways of Arizona in 2022.
7 - Luke List
Hole 7 - Plantation Course, Kapalua
469 yards
Another player to register a mammoth drive at Kapalua in 2023, Luke List took advantage of the conditions on the 7th en-route to finishing tied 11th.
8 - Justin Thomas
Hole 10 - Club de Golf Chapultepec
457 yards
Two-time Major winner Thomas recorded the eighth-longest drive in PGA Tour history on the par-four 10th at the 2019 Mexican Open.
9 - Ryan Brehm
Hole 18 - Plantation Course, Kapalua
455 yards
Brehm has just one PGA Tour victory to his name. However, he is ranked ninth on this list after being another golfer to send a massive tee-shot out there at Kapalua's closing hole in 2023.
10 - David Duval
Hole 13 – Palmer Course, PGA West
454 yards
Former Open champion Duval averaged 287 yards during his illustrious career.
Duval's power hitting marked him out during his time at the top and the year after lifting the Claret Jug, he sent a drive over 450 yards at the 2002 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.
