LIV Golf Dallas Tips and Predictions

The Open Championship is looming large - the final Major of the season takes place in Northern Ireland next month - and LIV golfers have only two tournaments left on their circuit before the Royal Portrush showpiece, starting with this week's event in Dallas.

Dallas-based slugger Bryson DeChambeau is playing close to home this week and is 5/1 joint-favourite with Jon Rahm for LIV Dallas glory. Joaquin Niemann, who has won four of the eight LIV events so far this season, is available at 13/2.

Maridoe Golf Club, a firm, fast track with run-off areas around the greens, hosts LIV Dallas. It staged the LIV Team Championship in September. Ripper GC - Cameron Smith, Marc Leishman, Matt Jones and Lucas Herbert - won that event.

Sunny, calm and extremely hot weather is forecast. A field of 54 goes to post, competing over 54 holes, and the action starts at 17:05 BST on Friday.

LIV Golf Dallas Prediction

Best Bet: Patrick Reed to win and each-way @ 16/1

It is incredible that 2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed is still waiting for his first individual title on the LIV circuit, given that he joined immediately. There is no better state for Reed to make his breakthrough than Texas, where he was born and still lives.

LIV Dallas looks a huge opportunity for Reed, who excelled at Maridoe in the LIV Team Championship in September. He had a 100 percent record in the matchplay element of that mega-bucks event, then carded a three-under-par round in the Sunday strokeplay, helping his Four Aces side to a share of second place.

It is not surprising that Reed loves Maridoe so much. The track typically plays firm and fast, with plenty of run on the fairways, so the relatively short driving of Reed is not so much of a handicap. And the run-off areas around the greens allow this short-game magician to show off his chipping and putting skills.

Reed has proved that he retains the ability to win the biggest prizes in the game at the age of 34. Amid all the Rory McIlroy hysteria at Augusta in April, Reed finished third in the Masters, and he followed up with 23rd place in the US Open, putting an albatross on his card at Oakmont.

Captain America, as he used to be known when excelling in the Ryder Cup, will be looking to put himself in with a chance of getting back on Team USA. He needs to catch the eye of Keegan Bradley, who will be selecting the wildcard picks, and winning LIV Dallas will help that cause.

Alternative Bet: Sergio Garcia to win and each-way @ 33/1

Another player who is desperate to perform well in the next couple of months to revive Ryder Cup hopes is Sergio Garcia, who has been a key member of many European sides through the years.

Garcia would love nothing more than getting the chance to bolster his magnificent Ryder Cup record and the next few weeks will go a long way to seeing whether he can. Expect a focused effort in LIV Dallas and for the Spaniard to contend for the title.

The leading player in the LIV standings after LIV Dallas who is not already exempt for the Open will be handed a place for Portrush. As things stand, Garcia would get the gig, with the three players ahead of him (Joaquin Niemann, Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm) already qualified for the Open.

Garcia, who lives in Texas with his Texan wife, won his maiden PGA Tour title in Texas and has triumphed three times on the PGA Tour in the Lone Star State. He played well at Maridoe in the LIV Team Championship last year.

Matt Ireland says:

A final-round 64 in LIV Virginia last time out showed that Garcia's A-game is close for what is a crucial stretch of golf for him.
