Italian Open: Prediction, Tips and Odds

All eyes will be on the DP World Tour's Italian Open this week with another star-studded field, headlined by LIV Golf member Patrick Reed, descending on the town of Cervia.

Having been held at Marco Simone Golf Club for the last three years, the action heads to Adriatic Golf Club for the first time and it promises to be an enthralling event on a course that offers a mix of styles.

Italian Open betting tips and predictions

Andy Sullivan to win and each-way - 75/1

Adriatic GC has a mix of modern American-style holes and Scottish links inspired holes so it will be interesting to see how the field deal with the different styles, especially as the rough is set to be approximately 80mm in height and the fairways narrowed by a couple of yards either side.

Hitting fairways and landing on these small greens looks to be the order of the day and that brings us onto the first selection, Englishman Andy Sullivan, who is a generous 75/1 to get the job done.

The 38-year-old is seventh in driving accuracy on the DP World Tour and 36th in strokes gained: tee-to-green, while he is also thriving on the greens as he leads in putts per round.

Sullivan's last victory came at the 2020 English Championship but he has been getting closer to ending that long drought this season, with three top-five finishes to his name.

The most recent of those came last time out at the Scandinavian Mixed, a course that has similarities to Adriatic GC, and that bodes well heading into Thursday's opening round.

Alex Fitzpatrick to win and each-way - 35/1

Sticking on the premise that 2024 Scandinavian Mixed form should transfer to this week's course, Alex Fitzpatrick is worth a look at 35/1 after his tied-third finish in Sweden recently.

The 25-year-old Englishman has been making steady progress this season, having also recorded four top-20 results, and he should be suited to this track.

Fitzpatrick has been solid with the driver and the putter, and if he can improve his greens in regulation percentage and give himself more looks at birdie, there looks to be every chance of him winning.

Adrian Otaegui to win and each-way - 35/1

When it comes to accurate players off the tee there is nobody better than Spaniard Adrian Otaegui, who is unrivalled in driving accuracy with a 68.94 percentage.

The 31-year-old landed his fifth DP World Tour title in May's China Open and while his form understandably took a dip after that success - his next four starts producing results of MC-T34-T30- MC - he bounced back with a T10 at last week's KLM Open.

It was a positive performance from Otaegui, who is 18th in strokes gained: tee-to-green this season, and it would be no surprise to see him in contention for a sixth success on the European circuit.
