DP World Tour: Indian Open odds, tips, predictions, course guide, how to watch and more

After Jesper Svensson's play-off win at last week's Singapore Classic, the DP World Tour stays in Asia and heads to New Delhi for the Indian Open.

Last year’s winner Marcel Siem will not be at the DLF G&CC to defend his title, but a competitive field has assembled with Denmark’s Rasmus Hojgaard set to go off as favourite.

The course is a tricky one with danger lurking at every corner, so a solid tee-to-green game will be an essential ingredient of any successful bid and we have selected three players who have a strong chance of doing exactly that.

Hojgaard made a strong start to 2024, but has gone off the boil in recent weeks, so it could pay to look at alternatives at the Indian Open.

One player who catches the eye is Bernd Wiesberger, who has won eight times on the DP World Tour and is back playing on the circuit full-time after leaving LIV Golf.

It has taken him some time to settle in, but recent outings have indicated he could soon be back in the winner's enclosure after 16th-place finishes recently in Bahrain and last week in Singapore.

His ability to find greens in regulation could prove a big asset at DLF G&CC, where he was 21st on his previous visit in 2019, so we can expect a bold show from the Austrian.

Scotland’s Ewen Ferguson makes his course debut, but he should find this week’s New Delhi test to his liking as he has shown great consistency since the turn of the year.

He missed the cut at the Dubai Desert Classic in January, but that is the only occasion in eight tournaments that he has failed to make the weekend and 23rd is his worst finish from his other outings.

Ferguson has the desired skillset for this week’s challenge and can build on this 11th spot in Singapore.

Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat fell in Sunday’s play-off and, while it is a long way back to get to his previous standing among the world’s top 30, his recent efforts on the Asian Tour have been encouraging, with top-15 finishes gained in Malaysia and Macau.

He was 22nd on his previous visit in 2017 and has already proved more than capable of performing well in this sort of company, so it would be a surprise if he did not mount another strong challenge.

DLF G&CC Club course guide

The DLF G&CC first hosted this tournament in 2017 and players will be faced with a 7,416-yard test, even though there is plenty of scope for the tee positions to be moved during the week.

It is a par-72 layout with the common number of four par threes and four par fives accompanying the 10 par fours and one of the characteristics is that the fairways are tight and water comes into play on six holes.

Difficult bunkers also have to be avoided and putting on the tricky greens can be problematic, so it is essential that players are able to plot their way around the course to avoid any drama.

That is easier said than done and the tournament is set to be played in sweltering conditions with temperatures expected to top 34C.
