BMW International Open Tips and Predictions

The DP World Tour moves from Italy to Germany this week for the final event of the European Swing, the BMW International Open.

Golfclub Munchen Eichenried hosts for the sixth edition in a row and the 29th time in total, with this tree-lined, parkland layout becoming more difficult over the years as the course matures.

Some big names from the LIV Golf circuit will be in attendance at the DP World Tour this week, including Sergio Garcia, who finished runner-up here in 2011 and who took a share of second six years later.

BMW International Open Prediction

Best Bet: Marco Penge to win and each-way @ 25/1

Although this course boasts a decent yardage at 7,354 yards, accuracy off the tee is favoured over distance given its tree-lined nature and Marco Penge ranks 28th in this category, which should give him a solid platform to build from.

Finding the greens has proven crucial to success over the years and the Englishman is fourth in greens in regulation, evidence of how sharp his approach play has been.

Making putts is still required and that is something Penge has been doing well this season, as he sits fifth in strokes gained putting and is 16th in three putt avoidance.

Having made his breakthrough at this level at the Hainan Classic in April, Penge has taken his game to another level and he arrives here off the back of a positive tied-21st finish at last week's Italian Open - his best finish since that victory in China.

James Mason explains:

Marco Penge is ranking highly in the required departments this week and he looks capable of landing win number two, having made his DP World Tour breakthrough in April.

Alternative Bet: Joost Luiten to win and each-way @ 45/1

Another reliable player with the driver is Joost Luiten, who is 15th in accuracy and who has previously shown a liking for this course.

The Dutchman was tied-third in 2011, registered a top-10 finish two years later and was also runner-up in 2023, losing out to Thriston Lawrence by just one stroke.

Luiten was on a solid run of form this season before missing two cuts in a row, but he has taken some time off since that disappointing spell and he should be refreshed in what will be his first appearance since the start of June.

Ranking in the top five for strokes gained approach and tee-to-green and sixth in greens in regulation, the 39 year old is clearly striking the ball well and any improvement with the flat stick would make him a real danger.

James Mason adds:

Joost Luiten is a steady player from tee-to-green, making him an ideal candidate for this course and, if his putter warms up, then he should be in the mix come Sunday.
