The scrap to finish in the top ten of the DP World Tour's Race to Dubai Rankings, therefore securing a PGA Tour card for next year, is intensifying as the season nears a conclusion.

The two headline acts in this week's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, though, are focused on nothing but winning the tournament.

Tom McKibbin to win (each-way) - 55/1

Northern Irish youngster Tom McKibbin has established himself as one of the best players on the DP World Tour and the 21-year-old could be ready to threaten the most prestigious victory of his burgeoning career.

McKibbin won the European Open last year and nearly added the Italian Open title at the end of June, losing in a play-off. He has posted 13 top-25 finishes this year, including eight top-tens and his last two tournaments have been encouraging.

A share of 30th place in the Irish Open was a decent effort under huge pressure, playing close to home and alongside McIlroy for the first two days. McKibbin followed up with tenth place in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

McKibbin finished 14th on his Dunhill Links debut last year and will fancy his chances of an even better result this time around.

Thorbjorn Olesen to win (each-way) - 80/1

The 2015 Dunhill Links Championship was won by Thorbjorn Olesen, who has always shown a liking for links golf and the Dane seems well capable of repeating that success this week.

His maiden DP World Tour title came by the coast in the 2012 Sicilian Open and he has gone on to claim eight victories on that circuit.

Olesen romped to a six-shot success in the Ras al Khaimah Championship in January, showcasing how deadly he can be when in the groove. Thunderbear, as he is known by his peers, carded a sensational round of 61 on the PGA Tour in May.

Olesen has settled nicely back on the DP World Tour in the last few weeks, finishing 12th in the Irish Open on links terrain last month.

His poor Wentworth record suggests a missed cut in the BMW PGA Championship last time out is nothing for his fans to fret about.  

Grant Forrest to win (each-way) - 66/1

Links master Grant Forrest appears to have an excellent opportunity to provide the Dunhill Links galleries with a Scottish winner.

He won the Scottish Amateur in 2012 at Royal Dornoch to quickly establish himself as a links threat, then he triumphed in the St Andrews Links Trophy in 2014.

Forrest was runner-up in the 2015 Amateur Championship at Carnoustie, so his comfort on two of the three courses being used this week is clear.

He has finished tenth in the Dunhill Links in both of the previous two editions.

Forrest's first DP World Tour victory came at a links in the 2021 Hero Open, so he appears one of the best equipped players in the field for this assignment.

Given his excellent form, including fifth place in the Irish Open on a links last month, the East Lothian man seems a huge threat.
