1983 World Darts Champion Keith Deller MBE provides his best bets for Sunday afternoon's opening UK Open quarter-final showdown between World Youth Champion Gian van Veen and World Darts Champion Luke Littler.
Gian van Veen v Luke Littler
Sunday 2nd March
What an absolutely belting quarter-final line-up we have to look forward to, and to get the action started we have the clash between the two standout young stars in the sport.
Gian van Veen is a serious talent and if anybody other than Luke Humphries can live with Luke Littler, then the Belgian star appears to be that man.
He averaged just shy of 110 in an enthralling 10-9 last 16 success over Damon Heta on Saturday evening, landing 10 of his 13 attempts at double and chipping in with a couple of big three-dart combination finishes too.
But beating Damon is a different proposition to beating Luke Littler, with absolutely no disrespect to the impressive Australian.
Luke just has that aura about him now, and you sense that some players are already beaten by him before they have even toed the oche for the first time on stage.
Gian won't fall into that category though, and I fully expect a titanic tungsten tussle between them both, with 'The Nuke' just about having a tad too much in his armoury to edge to victory.
Both players are big scorers, so expect the treble 20s to rain in and I am also taking one of the two to reel in the big fish at some stage of the match.
This will provide fireworks, and it will be very close, but I am taking Luke Littler to prevail in over 17.5 legs.
