bet365's Rob Tebbutt provides his best betting tips for Gervonta Davis v Lamont Roach as the two get set to go head-to-head for the WBA lightweight championship.
Gervonta Davis faces Lamont Roach this weekend, as the undefeated southpaw looks set once again to deliver another highlight-reel performance in Brooklyn.
Davis enters the bout a heavy favourite, and rightly so against Roach, who is moving up in weight for a chance to challenge for Davis’ WBA lightweight title.
I feel this is another fight where Davis will adopt his customary approach of walking his man down, increasing the pressure as the rounds go on, before finding the knockout shot.
I expect Roach, a well-schooled amateur and current champion at 130lbs, to play his part in the early rounds, perhaps even winning a few, but I don’t expect him to hear the final bell.
Four of Davis’ last five stoppages have been in the second half of fights, while three of his last four have come between rounds five and eight. I expect a similar outcome on Saturday night, with Roach succumbing to the firepower of ‘Tank’ somewhere in the mid-to-late rounds of the contest.
