We analyse the statistics and credentials of former unified super-lightweight world champion George Kambosos Jr and Daud Yordan as the pair get set to collide in Sydney, Australia, on Saturday 22nd March, 2025.
George Kambosos embarks on a quest towards becoming a two-weight world champion in March, and the first step on that journey will see him come up against the tricky veteran, Daud Yordan.
Kambosos is back in front of a hometown crowd for the first time in the best part of a decade, and heads into the dust-up knowing that if he is to capture a world title at 140lbs, then it's imperative that he not only defeats Yordan, but looks good doing so.
Yordan, at 37-years-old, is drinking in the last-chance saloon, where another high-profile defeat could bring and end to his long career.
The big questions ahead of Saturday 22nd March is who will prevail?
Before we find out, it's time to take a look at the 'Tale of the Tape'.

For seven months, between November 2021 and June 2022, George Kambosos was the man in the lightweight division.
The Australian had upset Teofimo Lopez to win the WBA, WBO and IBF 135lbs straps, becoming lineal champion in the process.
However, since then ‘Ferocious’ has been on a four-fight streak of poor performances; comprising of three defeats and a disputed win.
Firstly, the Sydney native dared to be great by challenging, WBC holder, Devin Haney for the right to become undisputed.
The American was too fast, too slick and too accurate for Kambosos, who was never able to gain a foothold in the bout.
The rematch followed a similar pattern.
A final eliminator for the IBF championship, against Maxi Hughes, further highlighted the limitations of the 31-year-old, as the unheralded Englishman caused no end of problems.
Many observers felt Hughes had done enough, but the judges disagreed.
Kambosos did not fair any better when he challenged Vasiliy Lomachenko for the IBF belt - the Ukrainian’s angles and feints bamboozled the former champion and the Aussie was halted in the 11th round.
Now, ‘Ferocious’ has moved up to 140lbs and is fighting in his home city for the first time in eight years.
He will hope these factors can rejuvenate his career, which appears in danger of fizzling out.
Strengths | Weaknesses |
Work rate | Can neglect his feints |
Jab | Open to right hands over his low lead hand |
Combination punching | Stays in range too long |
Right cross | Doesn't cut ring off |
Being brought into a fight with the expectation that you will lose can be a daunting prospect.
However, Daud Yordan will be unfazed - he has been in this position before.
He challenged his compatriot, Chris John for the WBA featherweight title, in 2011 - ‘The Dragon’ was a long-reigning champion and national treasure, but Yordan came close to upsetting the odds.
Seven years later, ‘Cino’ travelled to Ekaterinburg, to take on, the unbeaten, Pavel Malikov, where the Indonesian was able to halt the hometown favourite in the eighth round.
A trip to England followed, as he battled former WBA lightweight titlist, Anthony Crolla and whilst Yordan had plenty of success, ‘Million Dollar’ did just enough to have his hand raised.
Throughout his 20-year professional career, a legitimate world title has eluded the 37-year-old.
He is a two-weight IBO champion and is the current IBA super-lightweight title holder, but these belts are lightly regarded.
A win over George Kambosos Jr could earn him one last title tilt.
