Gareth Southgate’s England 25/1 to repeat Euro 2016 clean sweep

England kick off their European Championships qualifying campaign in Naples on Thursday evening and we’ve priced them up at 25/1 to win every group game – just like they did when qualifying in 2016!

The Three Lions were impeccable as they cemented their spot at the top of Group E six years ago, breezing past the likes of Switzerland and Slovenia to establish themselves as one of the bookmakers favourites in France.

The showpiece proved catastrophic for Roy Hodgson and his side however, as they were prematurely dumped out of the competition by European minnows Iceland after limping through to the last 16 behind group winners Wales.

But after reaching the quarter-final, a semi-final and a final in each of the last three major tournaments, optimism is rife that Gareth Southgate’s men can go one-step further when the cream of the continent reunite in Germany next year.

bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “There might be fewer games than 2016 but a group containing Italy and Ukraine looks tougher than it did when Roy Hodgson’s side managed a perfect 10 when scoring 31 and conceding just three.

“That said, it hardly served us too well as England were back on the Eurostar before June was out after suffering that embarrassing 2-1 defeat against Iceland!”

England are 7/1 to reign supreme and go all the way in the summer of 2024, but before any of us can even begin to dream of football making its proverbial way home, the Three Lions, first and foremost, have to rubber-stamp their ticket.
