Galal Yafai has made a promising start to his professional career and is next in action when he defends his WBC international flyweight title against Tommy Frank at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena.
The 2020 Olympic gold medalist is one of the brightest stars in British boxing and the 30-year-old headlines Matchroom Boxing's latest NXTGEN card on 19th August.
Birmingham-born Yafai has contested only four fights in his short professional career but the Beast was a seriously impressive amateur fighter, and a late move to the paid ranks means that Yafai can’t afford to hang around.
Frank put up a good show in a ding-dong British title clash with Jay Harris last time out, and the Sheffield man will be sure to bring maximum effort to Birmingham.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of what should be a compelling night of boxing.

The WBC international flyweight contest between Yafai and Frank is due to take place on Saturday 19th August, 2023.
Coverage on DAZN will get underway at 19:00 and Yafai and Frank are due to start their ringwalks for the main event at around 22:00, but exact timings will depend on the duration of the undercard contests.
The contest is being staged at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena. It will be the first time that Yafai has fought professionally in front of a home crowd and the 30-year-old is sure to have plenty of support.
The venue was opened as the National Indoor Arena in 1991 in the city centre and it was intended to be an indoor sports facility, but now also hosts concerts and other performances.
The arena has a capacity of 15,800 and underwent major redevelopment works in 2013.
The Birmingham venue has previously staged events as diverse as the Eurovision Song Contest, IAAF World Indoor Championships, Premier League Darts and the 2001 Robot Wars Live Tour.
The fight will be shown live on subscription streaming service DAZN. The bout will be available in over 200 countries and can be viewed on various devices.
Yafai’s WBC international flyweight title is up for grabs. He won that belt on his professional debut against Carlos Vado Bautista and it’s proved useful to help him climb the rankings.
Frank is a former British, Commonwealth, WBC international silver and IBO intercontinental flyweight champion and the Sheffield man will be looking to add another title to his collection.
Yafai has contested only four professional bouts, winning all of those fights and claiming three stoppage victories.
The 30-year-old was an extremely gifted amateur performer, who claimed a gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
He also won a silver medal at the 2017 European Championships, gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and bronze at the 2019 European Games.
The Birmingham boxer stopped experienced Mexican performer Moises Calleros in the fourth round last time out.
Frank has lost three of his 19 bouts and the Sheffield man is a former British, Commonwealth, WBC international silver and IBO intercontinental flyweight champion.
The 30-year-old lost his Lonsdale belt to Harris last time out, but the Welshman is a world-level prospect and that was a contest where Frank was attempting to upset the Swansea fighter.
Only three of Frank’s 15 professional victories have come by stoppage, but wins over Martin Tecuapetla and Aran Dipaen represent pretty decent form.
The rapidly rising Cyrus Pattinson is on the undercard, taking on Conah Walker in a WBA Continental Welterweight Title fight.
Amongst the other fights, Jordan Flynn goes up against Kane Baker in an English Super-Featherweight Title Eliminator.
