Frazer Clarke has revealed he is ready and willing to tackle domestic foe Dillian Whyte in a blockbuster domestic heavyweight showdown this year as he plots a potential route to world title contention.

The 2020 Olympian tasted defeat for the first time as a professional last year, being beaten by Fabio Wardley in explosive fashion just months after their enthralling first bout ended in a split-draw.

The 33-year-old has since bounced back in emphatic fashion however, producing a dominant performance to stop Ebenezer Tetteh inside the first round to propel himself back on an upward trajectory.

Discussions have subsequently since taken place with regards to the Burton-born star's next move, and whilst David Adeleye and Jeamie DKV have both been mentioned, Clarke himself fancies a crack at former world title challenger Whyte.

"Dillian Whyte's name has been chucked around at me a few times in the last few weeks and it's something I'm open to," he told Sky Sports.

"I've got a lot of respect for Dillian and what he's done, but I am my own man and I am trying to climb the ranks, and this would be a great fight, a domestic dust-up.

Again, he's looking for bigger fights than Frazer Clarke, but the dynamic of boxing now, these fights can happen no problem. If it's put forward to me and it can be done, that's a good fight.

"I'd take that fight straight away. It may be different for him, I understand that."

Clarke, who fights under the BOXXER umbrella, and Whyte have naturally seen their names linked given the contrasting ways in which they secured victory over Ghanaian power-puncher Tetteh in their last outings.

Whilst the 36-year-old stood toe-to-toe with Whyte for seven rounds back in December, Clarke needed less than two minutes to dispose of his opponent last month.

"People will compare performances, but that's boxing - I was just happy to get back out there and wipe out the demons with a good win," he added.

"The Fabio Wardley fight made a lot of noise but ultimately it was one or two shots, it wasn't like a beatdown, It was so early.

"Once I recovered from the injury, I was good to go. So I felt fit, I felt strong, I felt confident. It was the first real time when I went in there and I thought I've really got something to prove here.

"I know many a man that would never have fought again after that kind of defeat [to Wardley]. But I've been back in the gym. I've got my victory back now.

"There are plenty of options for my next fight, Dillian isn't getting any younger, he could do with activity - I'm available, I'm fit and I'm ready. So if the phone ever goes for that fight, I'll jump on it.

"But there are other names too. I'd just like to box my way to where I need to be and that's what I'm going to try and do."
