Frank Warren is backing Anthony Cacace and Leigh Wood to serve up a boxing treat this weekend as the domestic rivals go to war in a bid to secure a coveted super-featherweight world title opportunity.
The Queensberry pair are set to collide at the top of Saturday night's Nottingham bill where Wood will bid to capture the IBO super-featherweight title and propel himself into position for a crack at one of the four officially recognised belts later in the year.
The two-time WBA featherweight champion of the world hasn't fought since seeing off Josh Warrington in devastating fashion over 18 months ago, but has vowed to make up for lost time when he tackles the dangerous Northern Irishman, live on DAZN.
Like Wood, Cacace is also a former bona fide world champion having held possession of the IBF super-featherweight strap before relinquishing it earlier this year after opting against a mandatory defence against Eduardo Nunez.
Instead, the 36-year-old opted to pursue a more glamorous and money-spinning affair against his stablemate this coming weekend, with a view to winning the fight and then landing even more prosperous opportunities down the line.
"I’m telling you now, this will be the fight of the year," Warren boldly predicted in the build-up to the showdown.
It has fight of the year written all over it - these are two unbelievable competitors, world champions and it's a fight they both want - in fact, one they are desperate for.
"This is going to be an extra, extra special fight - a genuine contender for fight of the year, it has everything!"
Whilst the affair has lacked spice outside of the ring, with both men opting to retain composure and respect throughout their respective camps, Warren is fully expecting fireworks inside of it - especially given what's at stake.
"They aren't two young kids, they are seasoned professional, they will save it all for the ring - they both understand the importance of winning this," he added.
"When you have two guys who keep their mouths shut outside of the ring, you know they will let loose inside of it. They respect each other, but they know how important this fight is.
"The atmosphere will be incredible, both men will have an army of fans behind them - Nottingham will be strongly represented but there will be plenty of fight fans making the journey over from Belfast too.
"We love to see the best fighting the best, and that's exactly what we have to look forward to on Saturday night."
